Okay, so, apparently it's notification related. Any time I get pinged in any app, it freezes everything for a bit.
I keep getting weird mini freezes in this current gentoo install. It's really weird. Just a few seconds of certain apps not responding at all, not long enough to make me force close them, but long enough for me to get a little bit ragey about it...
The issue I have, is I LOVE the idea of rimworld, prison architect, dwarf fortress, but I am lazy, and old, and incapable of smrteninging. And so I watch people play them and think how much fun they look.
Updated basically all my things. Site is hosted on a new server, znc is hosted there, hoping if I can move everything to one VPS I can save a few bucks.
Jingle Jam is on again! Jingle Jam I've been watching it every year, buying the bundle, doing the do. The charities seem oddly English Specific this year, but hey, we're all one people right? Why not help your fellow man.
@prologic I actually set up https://man.sr.ht/~hristoast/mousikofidi and it is really pretty good, the problem I have with it is it's all the stuff I have already, I don't get anything new. I tend to alternate back and forth between the two depending on how random I feel.
Every morning, I wake up, and I find some music to listen to for the day. Today's choice was Astral Throb's VIRUS playlist on youtube. Then my alarm went off, and it picked Nine Inch Nails, and I guess today is Trent Reznor's day.
As this year goes on, and slowly works its way towards the end, I wonder if I should be hopeful for a new year, or terrified that it can only get worse...
Alright, well. Void is fun, but I have the worst internet in the world, so streaming games with nvidia geforce NOW is not fun. I need something that works with my card I guess.
I installed Voidlinux musl, Which is interesting. On the upside it works nicely, except for the downside, which is there's no nvidia driver support unless you LIKE gimped drivers. Thanks nvidia!
Does it cost a lot of money to officially change my name to DJ Pinki3? Asking for a friend.
Ordered my groceries, Had them come in. Discovered that somehow I'd managed to get 90% candy.\nI was not upset.
@prologic We got started a couple of months back, but the first three weeks were just a wash, since no one knew what they were doing. Then we had a month of kinda working it all out and getting in a pattern, and then the teacher realized that we'd missed a month and had to catch up...
I don't know about Y'all, but it has been BUSY round here. My kid has been doing school from home, and what that means, practically, is she hasn't been doing school at all, she's been doing home schooling with a teacher occasionally looking at her on camera. I don't recommend it.
@prologic Hah, I always end up playing starquake. As a kid it confused me SO much, but I still played it over and over, so as an adult with access to the internet and maps and guides, I like to ignore them all and realize I am still SO CONFUSED...
My father in law has this old ass case, looks like a beige brick, thing is pretty... He's constantly just upgraded the system, so instead of changing the whole computer out, he's just got this OLD PC with all new internals... It's nice!
My first computer was an Amstrad, CPC464, with a green screen. That thing was beautiful. The weird greyish shade to the keyboard, the shining green screen. Mmm. Occasionally I throw myself into a nostalgia fest and go emulate some of those old games... So good!
Watching LGR look at a trs-80. Man, how did we get here to this crazy RGB LED thing? These things were cool looking in a weirdly retro way!
So, I'm trying out soju as an irc bouncer, using irssi instead of weechat, just to mix things up. It's been an interesting time. I like messing with things!
Not that anyone reads anything I post, but what do people use for a gopher server these days? I know about gophernicus, but I didn't know if there were more or better options?
@prologic late reply, since yesterday was a bust for me, but pong!
Today, I made a website, and a gemini site. gemsite? I guess?\nliesinties.site\nI haven't really done anything with it yet, but I'd like to. We'll see.
Today's sr.ht discovery, mousikofidi. Which is amazing. Streaming service for your own computer setup. I've used google, spotify, soundcloud, pandora, and I can't even tell you how many more. They all suffer the same issue, ownership. Of the music, and more importantly of your data.
Well, the mobile app is nice too. Easy to use, clear and concise.
@xfnw Welcome to the party!
@prologic Well! I'm glad I could help, somehow. Also, apparently cross posts DO work, which is nice. Just had to figure out where to click to find them...
It feels like a doom day. Rip and Tear, until it's done.
I dunno what Biscoff DO to the cookies, but these are GOOD cookies...
@prologic Alright! This thing is awesome. I think I read that cross pod mentions should work right? I guess I'll find out!
I'm enjoying this thing a lot, There's a command line client called twet, which you can use to read twt's, haven't figured out how to make it post yet though...
@styx I don't think it was 2am, pretty sure it was like maybe 10 or 11! But the server is in australia I think, so you know. Randomness intensifies.
@radfred One of those ducks is a chicken!
The interesting thing is, you can actually see the original twtxt file at https://eveningwear.twt.social/user/$user/twtxt.txt if you replace $user with a username. It's been about for a long time, but this makes it WAY more accessible, and hosts it for you.
@styx Mostly, it kinda does twitter, only self hosted (Or in this case hosted by a nice dude at twt.social). Sorta as if you combined twitter and mastodon, but then made it a really simple text file with a nice UI.
Well, This is exciting. My own twtxt instance, and looking so shiny!
