@slashdot Oh geez 😳
@twilightsparkle Welcome back! πŸ˜€
@ionores oh no that’s terrible ! 😒
@ionores rats 🀣 was hoping for some real pics of the day! 😎
@kt84 @becrobinson86 Ahahahaha not sure if joke or sarcasm πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
@kt84 @off_grid_living that would be a breach of contract and would risk frying certain types of sensitive electronics that don’t tolerate the higher voltage coming in off the grid. If the latter happens you can be sure they’ll be multiple lawsuits possibly even class action suits
@dooven they’re wonderful aren’t they 😁
@vgn Re photo upload I’ll check the pods logs , was it an image perhaps the backend doesn’t support? It accepts jpeg and png today
@vgn Yup there is over at https://twt.social/join
@felixp7 is it really though different?
@felixp7 😎
@felixp7 and how about => functions?
@ionores are you watching in person?
@felixp7 Or cat? 😁
@vgn So... We actually have an issue to create a Desktop App, but we haven't stated this work yet... You would typically run a Pod however in some kind of "hosting" environment. We offer a fully-managed, 1-click hosted service for Twt.social pods over at Twt.social if you're interested? However given that the community as a whole is still on the small side (_but growing every day_) you might want to hang around this pod too! Make sense?
@dooven Very nice! So I see you like #redhotchillipeppers eh? 🀣 And #Futurama πŸ˜‚
@antonio Yeah I tend to agree 😁
@vgn A gold star? ⭐️ 🀣
Just saw today, the Spamty service offers news about their product/services via Twtxt as seen here Rock on! πŸŽ‰ #twtxt
Twtxt was mentioned here (_another Japanese blogger!_) Rock on! πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ #twtxt
@stats @vgn congrats on being the 130th user on this pod πŸŽ‰
For example MikroTik sell one of these (_one of my favourite wireless and wired hardware supplier_) here
What these (_ignorant_) fools in the Mobile Industry (_the ones at the top_) never seemed to understand is that this technology has been around for decades and it was specifically designed for a _very specific_ purpose, to replace Copper/Fibre cables between short distances, say between two buildings. This is known as 802.11ad and is otherwise known as "wireless wire".
@slashdot @off_grid_living You _should_ have a read of this article here (_click on the Conversation view and follow the link_). This is a really good article on why I also _think_ 5G is a complete and utter joke. The whole thing is just complete nonsense to be used as a cellular transmission medium in the first place. As I've stated numerous times to various folks in my circles the mm (_millimetre_) wave lengths used as high enough and the frequencies used to have such a stupidly high attenuation rate air and water that you may as well not bother! 🀣
What a glorious day! πŸ€£πŸ“·
@prologic @dooven oh and let’s not forget absolutely no user tracking or advertising whatsoever!
@dooven i agree! πŸ’― Twtxt is and should be all about an open decentralized unfiltered uncensored social media for all! And if we throw β€œdistraction free” into the mix as well who knows perhaps we might even get some of our precious time back 🀣
@dooven that is precisely the model of this platform isn’t it? We pull rather than push or stream between Pods, so i think it makes sense
@slashdot so I tried to read this article but I don’t get it what’s the plan exactly? Personally I’d be very happy if Java just swiftly died!
Does anybody else think that push notifications demand too much attention from us? And does anybody think that we should have such a feature on this platform?
@off_grid_living Oh for a minute I thought you had some nice 56 V tools and that you were allowed to make this kind of sound! 🀣🎬
@lukem Hmmm me too
@vgn They are in fact hashes of the original Twt that forms a "Conversation". Twt.social is based around a very simple concept called twtxt -- Ever Twt is actually just written to a plain text file and appended.
@vgn hello! Welcome! πŸ€—
@lyxal So what's so special about this particular bottle? 🀣
@eveningwear My favourite, Gorilla.bas and Nibbles.bas πŸ˜€
@hellson I know a buy that's an electrician! I can get you in touch πŸ˜€
@lyxal Post it here? I want to see this famous bottle of milk 🀣
@slashdot oooh cool and cooler πŸ“·
@hjertnes Umm what? πŸ˜€ Care to elaborate? πŸ™ Also tmux is nice! Wish I used it more often, I did a while back, but these days with less need to do work over a remote connection to (_very powerful_) servers, I find it less useful.
@slashdot _Note to self:_ write a longer Twt Blog piece in response to this.
@dooven it’s gettin hot over here 😎😒πŸ₯΅πŸ˜¨πŸ˜°πŸ”₯β™¨οΈβ˜€οΈ
@lukem Very nice 😎
@lukem What are you drinking? Anything good πŸ˜€
@lukem Hmmm very nice! I'll be doing that in about ~6-7hrs 🀣~
Morning Twtizens 😴 1xβ˜•οΈ
@felixp7 Duktaps is pretty cool actually 😎
@lukem Oh well damn that was actually a rather nice feature, too bad it doesn't work with crazy ass remote working schedules 🀣 Why did they have to move this into the Health app?!
@jlj can you ping the hosts between each other?
@lukem Yeah no unfortunately (_or fortunately_) I had ~21years or perfect vision so my brain is still used to certain things and you just learn to "cope" πŸ˜€ -- I'm also too old (_can't teach an old dog new tricks, etc_) to learn things like Braille, etc and things like "TTS" are basically rubbish IHMO.~
@lukem Not a great deal of difference except for one minor thing, can you spot it? πŸ€£πŸ“·
@koehr @eli_oat I second this and have one myself
@lyxal ahh I see 😁
@lukem Google β€œLebers Disease” basically I have very limited peripheral vision which means I can see some very blurry imagery with very poor focus that doesn’t converge only around very small patches on the side. So I can’t read I can’t recognize peoples faces can’t drive, etc.
@lukem Oooooer! /me Stars and Watches this. Very nice! I _might_ install this!
@New_scientist So here's a piece of "tid bit" for you... I'm actually "vision impaired" / "legally blind" (_I have <~1% useful sight_). I actually_- identity people by the way they work from a distance. Every person I've met in so far in my life whether I see them frequently, occasionally or rarely have a very unique way about them and "style" of walk.\n\nSo... I am not surprised! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ The question now of course is, are we going to give this piece of privacy away too?! 🀣_~
@lyxal @razetime Thanks! Much appreciated πŸ˜€
@lyxal Oh wow! Do you work for Coles or something? This is crazy! 🀣
@lukem The trouble with everything "FREE" is that there's always a catch πŸ˜€
@slashdot Good So they should! Net neutrality for all!
@slashdot You mean this ? @kt84
@lukem I agree, and you are right. However its all but a bit too late for it to be really effective now? I mean "Contact Tracing for Patient Zero" is best used at the start of an outbreak to contain the spread. Now it's just all a bit silly. If all 7.6B of us just stayed home for a month (_what's a month out of our lives?_) we'd eradicate every known pathogen know to man! But what would I know πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ_
@lukem @prologic What I wanna know is why our Apple and Google releasing the exposure notification system on their platforms only now how many months later?
@lukem right I see. Same problem occurred here with government tempted apps at the same contact tracing solution but ultimately failed
iOS 13.7 update includes the new Exposure Notification System for #Covid19 #Contact #Tracing joint project by Apple and Google. What do we know about this? What do we think? Is it actually privacy focused? πŸ€”
I agree with @dooven , Go has all the strengths of C, the nice bits of OOP without any of the cruft!
@off_grid_living cheers! Thanks for the birthday wishes ! πŸ€—
@lukem Oh gawd this whole thing is just silly 🀣
@andrewm4894 Thank you ! πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ
@lukem Thanks! 😁
@dilbert Filthy Rich? πŸ’°πŸ€£
@ionores oh thanks! πŸ€—
@kt84 Hah! No test for the wicked! 🀣
@antonio Thanks!
@annekemp If they stop spawning there all together won’t they just die out? 😳
@dooven Thanks! It feels great to be 21 again! 😎
@prologic his name was Ed!
The other day when we went for a drive to Lake Manchester, when we were done and having lunch at the picnic table we saw this magnificent horse! πŸ˜ŽπŸ“·
@felixp7 Oh shucks thanks! 🀣
🎁 Can you believe its my birthday today?! And guess what I'm doing? That's right! Working πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»
@dooven WOW! 😲 That's pretty bad 😒 I _hope_ most of you guys are doing okay despite the increased levels of smoke and pollution! Not good 🀬
@dooven Are you guys in Canada seeing the effects of the CA, USA fires? πŸ€”
@cncf Its a shame to that we (_and by we I mean the Docker Swarm community, or whatever is left of it_) never really figured out how to do stateful services properly. The most frustrating aspect of Docker Swarm I've found is managing stateful workloads and having good storage volume drivers. There are many that were implemented but either a) simply don't work or b) are incomplete, buggy or broken.\n\nNice write up! cheers πŸ€— (_btw I still run several production Swarm clusters even today!_)
@cncf Hello Kevin! πŸ‘‹ (_email inbound since I can't comment_) Very interesting read, thank you for taking the time to write this up and its a very nice perspective and story!\n\nRegarding the motivations behind the move from Swarm to Kubernetes:\n\n> In addition to the patchwork tooling, we were quickly reaching a point where we will likely need to scale out our critical infrastructure components such as Redis and RabbitMQ and while Swarm is great for scaling stateless applications, it’s less than ideal for managed stateful applications. With the introduction of Operators
@eli_oat Boes Quiet 35s will do this
@lukem @antonio @lyxal And do you have to "read" said articles? Or just click and follow as fast as possible? πŸ˜€
@lyxal @antonio WTH?! I don't get it! 🀣 (_maybe I"m too dumb to understand! 😳_)_
@lukem Good Morning! πŸ˜€
@felixp7 Hah good point! I was just bored after a long day of reading f and catching up on worm notifications! 😳
@prologic Even my news feeds are quiet! What's going on?! πŸ™€
Its too quiet on Twtxt.net πŸ˜€
πŸ“£ FYI: Let me know if _any_ of your Twt Blogs here (_especially any older ones_) don't load for you. There was a bug in the way old Twts were being archived (_fixed now_) and I had to go and fix some bad data. Thanks! πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ
@antonio @lukem I've only heard good things about ProtonMail. πŸ‘
@off_grid_living how many chooks are you planning fo have ?
@off_grid_living Yeah they're gorgeous 😎
Here’s a few snaps and videos of some king parrots that enter our space every summer! Aren’t they beautiful? πŸ˜ŽπŸ“·πŸŽ¬
@dilbert apply the same ideas to agile software development and scrum methodologies and you’re pretty much spot on! πŸ˜‚
@felixp7 yup This is the very problem with languages like Java, C#, Objective-C probably Swift and most definitely C++
@felixp7 I couldn’t agree more
@antonio @lukem I use Poste which takes a lot of the headache out of managing your own email hosting! It is a wonderful set of open source pieces of software packaged in a Docker Image with a nice web interface for administration.
