@kt84@off_grid_living that would be a breach of contract and would risk frying certain types of sensitive electronics that donβt tolerate the higher voltage coming in off the grid. If the latter happens you can be sure theyβll be multiple lawsuits possibly even class action suits
@vgn So... We actually have an issue to create a Desktop App, but we haven't stated this work yet... You would typically run a Pod however in some kind of "hosting" environment. We offer a fully-managed, 1-click hosted service for Twt.social pods over at Twt.social if you're interested? However given that the community as a whole is still on the small side (_but growing every day_) you might want to hang around this pod too! Make sense?
What these (_ignorant_) fools in the Mobile Industry (_the ones at the top_) never seemed to understand is that this technology has been around for decades and it was specifically designed for a _very specific_ purpose, to replace Copper/Fibre cables between short distances, say between two buildings. This is known as 802.11ad and is otherwise known as "wireless wire".
@slashdot@off_grid_living You _should_ have a read of this article here (_click on the Conversation view and follow the link_). This is a really good article on why I also _think_ 5G is a complete and utter joke. The whole thing is just complete nonsense to be used as a cellular transmission medium in the first place. As I've stated numerous times to various folks in my circles the mm (_millimetre_) wave lengths used as high enough and the frequencies used to have such a stupidly high attenuation rate air and water that you may as well not bother! π€£
@dooven i agree! π― Twtxt is and should be all about an open decentralized unfiltered uncensored social media for all! And if we throw βdistraction freeβ into the mix as well who knows perhaps we might even get some of our precious time back π€£
Does anybody else think that push notifications demand too much attention from us? And does anybody think that we should have such a feature on this platform?
@vgn They are in fact hashes of the original Twt that forms a "Conversation". Twt.social is based around a very simple concept called twtxt -- Ever Twt is actually just written to a plain text file and appended.
@hjertnes Umm what? π Care to elaborate? π Also tmux is nice! Wish I used it more often, I did a while back, but these days with less need to do work over a remote connection to (_very powerful_) servers, I find it less useful.
@lukem Oh well damn that was actually a rather nice feature, too bad it doesn't work with crazy ass remote working schedules π€£ Why did they have to move this into the Health app?!
@lukem Yeah no unfortunately (_or fortunately_) I had ~21years or perfect vision so my brain is still used to certain things and you just learn to "cope" π -- I'm also too old (_can't teach an old dog new tricks, etc_) to learn things like Braille, etc and things like "TTS" are basically rubbish IHMO.~
@lukem Google βLebers Diseaseβ basically I have very limited peripheral vision which means I can see some very blurry imagery with very poor focus that doesnβt converge only around very small patches on the side. So I canβt read I canβt recognize peoples faces canβt drive, etc.
@New_scientist So here's a piece of "tid bit" for you... I'm actually "vision impaired" / "legally blind" (_I have <~1% useful sight_). I actually_- identity people by the way they work from a distance. Every person I've met in so far in my life whether I see them frequently, occasionally or rarely have a very unique way about them and "style" of walk.\n\nSo... I am not surprised! π€·ββοΈ The question now of course is, are we going to give this piece of privacy away too?! π€£_~
@lukem I agree, and you are right. However its all but a bit too late for it to be really effective now? I mean "Contact Tracing for Patient Zero" is best used at the start of an outbreak to contain the spread. Now it's just all a bit silly. If all 7.6B of us just stayed home for a month (_what's a month out of our lives?_) we'd eradicate every known pathogen know to man! But what would I know π€·ββοΈ_
@lukem@prologic What I wanna know is why our Apple and Google releasing the exposure notification system on their platforms only now how many months later?
iOS 13.7 update includes the new Exposure Notification System for #Covid19#Contact#Tracing joint project by Apple and Google. What do we know about this? What do we think? Is it actually privacy focused? π€
The other day when we went for a drive to Lake Manchester, when we were done and having lunch at the picnic table we saw this magnificent horse! ππ·
@cncf Its a shame to that we (_and by we I mean the Docker Swarm community, or whatever is left of it_) never really figured out how to do stateful services properly. The most frustrating aspect of Docker Swarm I've found is managing stateful workloads and having good storage volume drivers. There are many that were implemented but either a) simply don't work or b) are incomplete, buggy or broken.\n\nNice write up! cheers π€ (_btw I still run several production Swarm clusters even today!_)
@cncf Hello Kevin! π (_email inbound since I can't comment_) Very interesting read, thank you for taking the time to write this up and its a very nice perspective and story!\n\nRegarding the motivations behind the move from Swarm to Kubernetes:\n\n> In addition to the patchwork tooling, we were quickly reaching a point where we will likely need to scale out our critical infrastructure components such as Redis and RabbitMQ and while Swarm is great for scaling stateless applications, itβs less than ideal for managed stateful applications. With the introduction of Operators
π£ FYI: Let me know if _any_ of your Twt Blogs here (_especially any older ones_) don't load for you. There was a bug in the way old Twts were being archived (_fixed now_) and I had to go and fix some bad data. Thanks! πββοΈ
@antonio@lukem I use Poste which takes a lot of the headache out of managing your own email hosting! It is a wonderful set of open source pieces of software packaged in a Docker Image with a nice web interface for administration.
