Ask HN: Is Stripe the new PayPal, cancelling user accounts without explanation?**
I have a side-hustle doing podcast production and hosting. Rather than charging a fixed fee I operate on the "value for value" model: if you got some value from the work I'm doing then please visit my website and return some value by sending in a donation, either a check in the mail or online using Stripe. This has worked very well for the past few years and I've been able to cover all of my expenses, upgrade my gear, and make people happy.

Ask HN: Why do games companies not release source code for old games?**
Releasing a game's source code allows it to be read, forked, and modded. It increases enthusiasm for the game/franchise.
What do games studios gain by _not_ making source code for old games (when available) public?

Doom's source code was released and it had an vast impact on modding and enthusiasm for the gam ... ⌘ Read more
Show HN: I made a free app to calibrate your turntable by simply playing a song
Hey there!
I made a little app that lets you to calibrate your turntable by putting on any record and tapping a button. It's called Grooved and it uses your phone's microphone to see how fast your platter is going, almost like magic.

The app itself is free without ads, subscriptions, or trackers. It' ... ⌘ Read more
Show HN: I'm tired of S3 and all the nonsense around it
Cmon... I just want to upload a file and make it public on the internet. Now you tell me I need to master bucket policies, ACL, CORS, multipart uploads, content headers, CDN, presigned URLs, and a bunch of other crap?
I can't be asked, so I built FILE0. It's for storing files but you don't need to complete an online course.

Ask HN: My CEO has been "stealing" money from the company, what should we do?**
We're a startup at the pre-seed stage, me and another co-founder just recently found out our CEO has been instructing our third-party accountant to issue themselves advance payroll for like 13 weeks, while we only have roughly 8 weeks of runway left.
They never told us or discussed with us about the payroll advance, would this be considered as fraud or stealing money from the company? Would this also breach the shareholder agreement? And if so, ... ⌘ Read more
