Show HN: OpenTimes – Free travel times between U.S. Census geographies
Hi HN! Today I'm launching OpenTimes, a free database of roughly 150 billion pre-computed, point-to-point travel times between United States Census geographies. In addition to letting you visualize travel isochrones on the homepage, OpenTimes also lets you download massive amounts of travel time data for free and with no limits.
The primary goal here is to enable research and fill a gap I noticed in the open-source spatial ecosystem. Researchers (social scientists, economist ... ⌘ Read more
Show HN: My high school team's space probe
Me and a few friends made this design document as part of our entry to the UK CanSat competition where a high school team is required to build a probe to be launched. The probe must serve some purpose, and ours was to map the temperature and pressure of the air at different altitudes.
We had the opportunity to launch it a week ago and you can find the video of our launch here: [https://drive.google.com/file/d/16bsLzxjP7OWRqVvCB62cLv7QYLR...]( ... ⌘ [Read more](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_9V6lBTIfDsPdKCohQBc5Ed5UzDbnsrI/view?usp=sharing)

Show HN: I lost 15% to Congress' lag, so I built a trade-sniping tool
A couple years back, my girlfriend and I jumped on the congressional trading bandwagon. You know the drill—politicians like Nancy Pelosi disclose their trades (eventually), and some of them have suspiciously good timing. We copied a few, and it worked. In months, we were up +38%. Even now, with the market tanking, we’re at +6%. Not bad, right?
But here’s where it fell apart: Congress gets a 30-day grace period to file trades, and I had to manually check sites like QuiverQu ... ⌘ Read more
Show HN: Open-Source MCP Server for Context and AI Tools
Large Language Models (LLMs) are powerful, but they’re limited by fixed context windows and outdated knowledge. What if your AI could access live search, structured data extraction, OCR, and more—all through a standardized interface?
We built the JigsawStack MCP Server, an open-source implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that lets any AI model call external tools effortlessly.
Here’s what it unlocks:

Chrome for Android doesn't have extensions, but Edge now has a whole store
Microsoft edge's latest build version 134.0.3124.57, just added a whole new web-store for Android user unlike google.
Extensions are great for adding a tiny bit of functionality to a browsing experience without dedicating an entire app to run in the background. For instance, some users like to use VPNs securely tied in from the browser itself rather than running the full-scale app.

Show HN: CodeVideo – Two years in the making to build an event-sourced IDE
Hi everyone! I originally created CodeVideo as a little side project using FFMPEG WASM in the browser as an experiment, but it's since grown into my vision for a completely automated software educational course production system.
The idea is that you create the educational content once, then can export the course to multiple formats - as a video (of course!), but also as an interactive webpage, a blog post, or even a book, PDF, or PowerPoint! Basically a "create on ... ⌘ Read more
Ask HN: Any jobs that don't force you to always be advancing career wise?**
(Throwaway for hopefully obvious reasons) I’m a software developer (web, fullstack) that’s been in the industry for about 10 years now and I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t care about advancing my career. My current title is Senior Software Engineer and, if I had it my way, I would be happy to keep that title for the rest of my career. I tried being a manager for a bit and hated it, and, in a similar fashion, the increased responsibility and scop ... ⌘ Read more
