@jim Agreed, "hate" is not something I like to see personally myself, nor "wars" or other bad traits of humanity π We're all the same species (_or so I thought..._) and we _should_ try to all get along, we only have one planet to live on π€£

I want to build something around this with a similar structure and UX and some way of non-tech-savvy users to be able to build a gallary of some media they want to share.

> suggestion it seems that chinese characters is illegal for a nickname, hope chinese nickname will be supported^_^
This is _actually_ hard to support, we've tried in the past and too many things went wrong. It was a poor design choice on our port, but one we're filling to try to work on and figure out how to fix π€ Sorry about that!
Meanwhile, everything else is legal and should work. Including obviously using chinese characters in a post (a Twt) and in your Profile (Description, Links, etc).

You can thank @movq for this I _believe_ -- I _think_ that's his blog post π€

That's a bit sad π’ Here at Yarn.social (which itself uses Twtxt under the hood), we do not collect or store any PII (_PersonalIdentifiablee Information_), nor do we log IP addresses of users accessing a Pod (_an individual instance of yarnd in the network_).

@mckinley if you can tell me how to enable vi key binding for text input boxes and text areas in a (standard) web browser I would forever be in your debt πββοΈ

@Rob to be honest stuff never really found going to a pub or bar with friends to be socializing π Or even very fun of relaxing π€¦ββοΈ
In my experience you just end up drinking cheap grok, shouting the entire time because you can't hear what each other is saying over the incredibly loud music, etc

@mckinley I think if basically comes down to a choice between vi key bondings and commands and emacs key bindings and its flow of commands (does it even have any? I've never used it π)

@will The network is obviously several times larger than this, but it is much easier to measure the activity levels on pods then random feeds in the wild π

One of the advantages of running your own pod especially one in the United States is better latency and improved user experience for you and other uses in the United States.
As it is right now we don't currently have a multiuser pod in the United States π’

@will that is the entire point of Yarn yes. However you are always more than welcome to use any existing pod or continue to use mine it's not a problem π€

@mckinley was also on earlier and we talked about:
- writing a blog post on watching videos with open source software - having a break from burning overtime at work - not talking politics on Yarn.social except for technology politics
