I don't think it's a coincidence that Vallee is among the most lucid of the mid-century ufologists. The modern internet does to the global mind what a close encounter does to individual minds.
Despite MST3K's riffing, the thing that strikes me most about The Day Time Ended is how closely it hews to the tropes of actual close encounters (as Vallee describes). & this is why it's a bad movie.

I just realized that -- nevermind Wu Ming / Luther Blissett -- QAnon is fanfiction of Bruce Sterling's 2016 SXSW closing keynote

Good design for developers & good design for non-developers don't operate by different rules. Devs aren't happy needing to memorize manuals, and end users can & will learn things if it makes their lives easier.
Bad idea of the day: live your life as though it is a bayesian poisoning attack on the basilisk

Interface usability in a nutshell: minimize how often the simplest way to do a thing the user wants to do is 1) hard to imagine before you see it, or 2) hard to understand once observed. Assume the user is more creative than you & less well-informed.
Fairly reliable indicator of a bad/naive post or project: the title or short description contains the name of the implementation language, but that language is conventional, commonly-used, or 'general-purpose'.
Bad idea of the day: require all 'tech' companies to be registered nonprofits -- make them prove that they are putting their revenue into 'changing the world' instead of just saying it
Protip: leave recordings of old public access TV in languages you don't speak on youtube on in the background, in order to encourage incorrect inferences & poorly targeted ads
Are there enough shared answers in the jeopardy questions & answers database to make a 'Ladies, if he X, then he's not your man, he's Y' bot from that corpus? Assume 4 questions per answer.

Hot take: until there is a convenient way to express regular expressions to a conversational voice interface, use of such interfaces will remain limited to mere consumtion

I think the scene in Inferno where the antique shop owner is killed by a hot dog stand owner while being eaten by rats is the key that ties the entire Three Mothers Trilogy together.
Band name of the day: a manifest degenerate entity for which wholeness is but a superficial distraction.
Hot take: like most things that are good, Cowboy Bebop is mostly good because they stopped making it before it became bad. (If you don't believe me, watch the movie or read the tie-in manga.)
Band name of the day: the historic and inadequate
Band name of the day: your needs grow teeth
I've seen a couple folks independently say 'ubiquitous' when they mean 'indicative'. Is there some high-profile youtuber who confuses the two or something? It's such a strange mistake that it can't be popping up totally independently.
Hey guys, Evangelion is coming to Netflix in 2019. This will be the first time it's been available on streaming services afaik
