Boots modeled on ski boots? Gotta try everything, I guess.
Diary of your life. Mine’s gonna be more boring than the ones in the WWDC sample…
OK, Sign In With Apple…almost seems neat. Of course, Apple is relaying e-mail for you…
Wow, Reminders got leveled up.
Totally flat black Now Playing. Hmm.
You can tell the Slack users in the audience because they’re the ones with the all-white laptop screens.
Faster app downloads/updates? Tell me how!
Only 85% on iOS 12? That’s not as high as it used to be, is it?
No third-party watch faces. Hunh.
Wonder what the Noise complication does to battery life.
…or encrypted in iCloud 🤔
This Noise app is my jam. Decibel meter on my wrist? Yes please.
This is the kind of nerd thing I’d like for my working out, especially since I’m getting into cardio a little bit more.
But will my Headspace thingo be able to add the mindful minutes back to my iPhone?
Rhumba lessons. Does Cuban Pete teach as his day job?
I’d run Oceanhorn 2 on my iMac. Installing a kext for my Switch Pro Controller isn’t something I want to do ever again, though.
“Beautiflu”. OK, happens to even the best of us.
Never thought I’d see a night-owl-pride thingo like this.
Cute 3D line-drawn animated icons.
Do you miss your Twitter timeline blowing up whenever a WWDC keynote happens? DON’T WORRY I GOTCHU FAM
Tempted to make a “dark motherfucking website” also-satire that has the minimal amount of @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) to keep people from blowing out their retinas when viewing the site at night.
@mdosch I’ve tried to play games on my phone and iPad but none of the games I’ve ever played on them seem to stick. I’ve had fun — briefly — with Threes and FTL and Really Bad Chess and so forth, but I don’t seem to stick with any one game on my iOS gizmos like I have with, say, FTL-on-Steam, much less TF2 or Dota 2.
In today’s brew update && brew upgrade
: new bat, harfbuzz, and lsd. Is this the universe’s way of pointing me towards transcendent joy?
Anyone who says that iPads are bad for gaming is an ignoramus and/or a liar. I beat Picross S’s P060 and I wouldn’t have been able to finish it if I hadn’t been able to take pictures of the TV with my iPad to be able to easily back out of hypohetical block arrangements that turned out to be wrong.
all my friends are in agony over the Game of Thrones series end and all I can do to try and understand is remember how utterly confused I was by the nondeominational church at the end of LOST
Cute. wget --mirror --random-wait
didn’t.
Make your website better in bed. Use @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) { /* … */ }.*
@tux0r “best viewed in a rusty nail” just sounds weird to me, though.
Took a long walk earlier today and now I want to take a short nap.
Today I learned that onions are a sulfur-rich food. You can experience this yourself if you caramelize down roughly seven onions and eat half the batch in one sitting. Try not to do this if you’re going to be around people with functioning noses.
Last night’s minor win: moving ~/.gitconfig and ~/.gitignore to ~/.config/git~
Looking for a suitable dip for your peanut-butter cups? Remember that sweetened condensed milk is liquid at fridge temperatures, while bacon fat is solid.
Concept of the day: “Radar Chicken”, whereby two computer nerds encourage the other to file a bug report so the other doesn’t have to
You know, Desert 2 is probably the best static Mojave wallpaper. It has enough light parts for the daytime, yet it also is generally dark enough to work well in dim lighting. Not many photographs are like that.
If Cthulhu, Chernobyl, and Pripyat all call you at the same time, who gets the busy signal?
@kas adiabatic. My insulin levels are self-regulating and not too high.
I art-directed a website. The end boss was finding out how to make the black parts of a black-on-transparent image a light gray after finding out that CSS can’t do this itself yet.
hmm, twtxt 1.2.3 includes “User-Agent:” in its user-agent string…
I want to like exa, but its default color choices are hot garbage. Don’t these people who use purple ever try using a terminal with a black background?
Interestingly enough, Visual Studio Code keeps running bash as its preferred shell, even though it isn’t the login shell anymore.
@kas now that I understand fish enough to port over the contents of my .bashrc and .bash_profile, I’m starting to get used to it. How’s having different shell preferences for login/interactive treating you?
I wanted to feel productive this evening, but I didn’t want to do any useful work. In related news, I’ve switched to https://fishshell.com/ from GPLv2 bash.
today was the day of the triennual trying of the fish shell only to go back to bash within an hour or two
“Great repository names are short and memorable. Need inspiration? How about supreme-couscous?” — I hadn’t heard about this particular Supreme collab, but then again I haven’t been subscribed to Hypebeast in a while…
@kas I wanted to like Kakoune but I liked having my option key not be an alt key more. Shame, really.
That previous post took the total font load for Safari users from 23 MB to a mere 9 MB. Progress!
I was too lazy to look up how to write a for-loop in bash so I just ran “find . -name \\*.ttf -exec woff2_compress {} \\;”*

IT’S PEANUT BUTTER CODIN’ TIME IT’S PEANUT BUTTER CODIN’ TIME IT’S PEANUT BUTTER CODIN’ TIME IT’S PEANUT BUTTER CODIN’ TIME
Finally had cause to break open one of those Panobooks by Studio Neat. It’s so utterly pleasant to touch.
Saw a reply to one of my old posts after bypassing goatflare. I’d never heard of Balistos before. At least I don’t remember seeing it the first time around.
I expected all of my leg and foot muscles to be sore after yesterday’s four-hour hike, but I didn’t expect my traps to be sore.
Used my first webp image today. Took me a bit to figure out that I needed to put width: 100% on the img element, not on its enclosing picture element.
you can do anything at localhost. the only limit is yourself
I did math. The math told me to eat more protein, so I had a whey-and-milk shake with vanilla extract and honey.
No Title: A play like No Exit by Sartre, but four strangers have to agree on how to tag a moderately complicated CD in iTunes
I reduced (sorry (not sorry)) an entire blog post into my previous twtxt post and I’m not sure if I should be happy or not. It might’ve been a perfectly adequate blog post.
things.reduce((pacman, dot) => {/* … */});=*
Just now noticed, over an hour later, that I didn’t want a post-dinner sweet something. Guess I finally broke the habit in three days or so.
Odd. 81° in here and I’m slightly chilled.
@kas I’m not discouraged at all. I now know to choose sleep at 8 PM instead of coffee. Maybe one day I’ll get lucky and just sleep the whole night through.
today’s procrastination tactic: writing a README (pretty much a spec) for an as-yet unwritten command-line tool
@kas I should have gone for the two-hour nap (to a first approximation, I can’t powernap). Ended up going to bed at 5 without having had a two-hour nap previously. Failed experiments are the price of knowledge, I guess.
not sure why a swig or three of kefir kills a post-meal sweet tooth, but it does. unsure if the 12g sugar per quarter bottle plays a part in this or not.
I went for the new thing and chose the coffee. I am not falling asleep in my chair anymore.
currently considering the relative merits of an 8 pm nap vs. an 8 pm coffee
Using Visual Studio Code in fullscreen on my main monitor while looking at other things on the other monitor. I did not expect to turn into one of John Siracusa’s millenial co-workers.
today’s brew cleanup
cleaned up 4 GB of space

I ate banana pancakes and now my burps taste like banana
“xt” is probably one of the least pleasant key sequences to press
accidentally deleted this thing because rsync with ansible is hard
fun make-work project: moving from upstart to systemd
@quite but sudo !!
is my favorite command…
Now seeing if Ansible is still upset.
Apparently this thing — by which I mean “my shell” — has trouble with exclamation marks inside double quotes. Phooey.
