@novaburst wow. So he quit in the end? Or was he just making a statement, that all social platforms are toxic? That even the fediverse is not a healthy world? But this should be know by just thinking about it for a second.
Everything new with the redesigned iOS 16 video player

However, the biggest change in this design, besides the look, is the unnecessary first tap that shows the controls. Play/pause as well as forward and rewind can be executed directly, which is a really nice feature I wanted for years.
@prologic OMG so much money wasted on things that he did not actually want. This is a good one to read and learn from. Need to show this to my wife, so she also learns to stick to the agreement in the future when she might get hired as a designer.
WE ARE BACK! Juhu! What an amazing trip. All the way from Bremerhaven (Germany) to Bergen - Geiranger - Hellesylt - Honningsvag (Norway) up to Longyearbyen (Svalbad/Spitzbergen). Then back south to Akureyri and Reykjavik (Iceland) with a short stop in Invergordon/Inverness (Scotland) back to Bremerhaven. We had so much fun, saw so many things and met so many friendly people. Ah, I wish we could have stayed longer. Back home, it is so warm… :-). Some photos will follow when the phone finishes uploading the 2800 videos and images into the cloud. #NorwayHoliday2022
@prologic yes it was up in the mountains. But we had a beautiful view after the clouds cleared ad gave view into the Geiranger fjord.
@lyse Norway is correct. Geiranger Fjord and all the way up to the Dalsnibba Mountain, 1500m height with a Renault Twizy electro car.... without windows.. brrrrr that was cold. @prologic
@prologic That's Reykjavik, Iceland
some other images from our trip:

Sorry for less text. but we are busy on vacation. riddle for you: where are we right now?
@lyse Good question. I don’t know. Does it take time to for the rules to get active? I have not made that experience. I set up a rule and it worked 2 minutes later when iI sent a test email.
@will This looks more like open see. Hard to tell where it is without any other information.
China is offering up to $15,000 in cash, or a 'spiritual reward' for people who submit national security tips. The goal is to get the population to tell on itself for things related to foreign espionage and "hostile forces". Strong Stalin vibes. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/08/china/china-foreign-spies-national-security-cash-reward-hotline-intl-hnk/index.html
In addition to that, important files are regularly put on a USB Flash Drive that is part of the red emergency binder, which also holds all latest documents and insurance documents on paper (printouts). In case of a fire, all I need is to grab the smartphone, the red emergency binder and run! (actually, the binder is yellow nowadays. It was red in the past :-))
@movq I have a NAS from Synology. I personally use a mix of Veracrypt containers/Veracrypt encrypted USB Flash Drives (do not have the money for an IronKey) and RESTIC backup repositories. The NAS makes backups to Synology C2 cloud solution. The backup there is encrypted, but for additional security the sensitive data is inside Veracrypt containers. So this is the 3-2-1 rule. Three backups, 2 on-site, 1 off-site. 1/2

Access is guaranteed through online interface with double authentication. So hopefully, I will never loose my smaphone :-)
I did not know that, but I just found out that you can set rules for emails through the online email access in icloud.com
I think I know it: Cut out the Commonwealth Bank Image and did an image search. Found the building in Brisbane. Should be "180 Brisbane" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/180_Brisbane) (Ann Street corner Edward Street. @prologic Hi, thanks for the hint, but I cannot get the stuff working with the template.HTML thing. I was also looking for an example, but converting markdown to HTML and then use it in a struct to be rendered by a template seems to be impossible to me.
@movq hahah the NAME is just awesome
Eggs are nice. Add them to salad, in the morning, sunny side over, mixed with left over potatoes in the pan the next day.
Good hint:
> Don’t write fragile programs. The core logic for this example is relatively short. Of the 22 lines inside the for loop, 6 of them implement the actual algorithm and the other 16 are error checking and data validation. You might be tempted to not validate incoming data or check errors, but doing so produces unstable, unmaintainable code. Error handling is what separates the professionals from the amateurs.
Unbelievable

@prologic mmh OK. so inside the struct instead of []byte I use template.HTML let me try
hi guys. I am trying to solve the following problem in Go: I have a go template that just uses {{.Body}} or {{printed "%s" .Body}} for output.
on the go side I am using templates.ExecuteTemplate(w,"view.html",data) as input.
the data.Body is a []byte which contains valid HTML.
The problem is, in the browser, or the templates.Execute only send escaped text to the browser. But it should not so I can create html on the server side

any ideas on how to solve this?

@movq I do not know that. It is going on since 2020 https://ec.europa.eu/info/strategy/priorities-2019-2024/europe-fit-digital-age/european-digital-identity_en and this one is a GREAT title https://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2022/may/is-the-eu-undergoing-a-chinafication-brussels-will-be-rolling-out-a-new-digital-identity-nbsp - creepy though
@prologic They should just get their money back and that's it. It is not likely tat Intel would have invested any of that money anywhere.
@prologic CRAZY isn't it? And I thought our rent is high
Sooo finished for today.
- got my subscription for the NYTimes working again
- got all my stuff at work checked in and handed over to colleagues
- one last day at work will hopefully just a relaxing and smooth one with saying goodbye before leave starts!
- really happy how the first half of the year went by
- looking forward to the long leave period. oh boy you have no idea how much I am looking forward to this
I see more a problem when the net is set up that it will pull the poles to the middle and then all if it just might crash?!?! The poles should be secured with 45° angled ropes to the outside.
@lyse We have soo much green here in The Hague city. It is amazing compared to other cities in which I have lived before.
@prologic No it was not cold. Like 20 degrees in the evening.

@prologic This is what I face every day when people ask me why I do not have WhatsApp anymore. I tell them then: please send email! Or Signal, Threema, Element(matrix), IRC. So strange. And I feel old and sad the Email got degraded to a "retrieve password" service.

@novaburst I think I should write: stop me fiddling around with the GUI and HMI and concentrate on the work I want to do.
#golang - I tried something with Mithril.js and Golang, but I do not know how to read the JSON send via PUT to the server. It is driving my crazy. All I get is a bunch of weird "true false true false 0 0" values in the request.Body.
Will there be a time when the desktop is not updated to something new? This is one of the reasons why I am still with Windows and macOS. Less configuration options prevent you from fiddling around with the system.

It will be hot at the weekend - Summer is back - and how: The German Weather Service expects temperatures to exceed 30 degrees this weekend. In France it is supposed to get even warmer, while Spain is already suffering from a heat wave.

Release 0.8 https://git.envs.net/cblte/golang-webapp/releases/tag/0.8 is here. Login, Register and comment only if logged in. Not perfect but I am getting there step by step.
@prologic and others may I ask you to review some code? https://git.envs.net/cblte/golang-webapp/releases/tag/0.7 It is not finished yet, but I think I am on a good way. Still needs some polishing. WebDev is actually new to me with all the status codes and stateless things and everything. So feedback would be appreciated. Using Redis because it was easy to setup and to implement. Actually want to use SQLite or something else, but Redis seems to do the job for now.

@lyse A hell of of images.

As I am "not allowed" to use bigger third party frameworks, it took a while to find a decent document that describes the standard mix router in golang

I use long passphrase. I keep them in my password manager and if I need to type them, it is much easier to type.
@movq Ich mag deine Webseite.

Pretty Impressive Google Cloud employee calculates pi to 100 trillion digits but to be honest: _This time around to calculate 100 trillion digits, the computer processed about 82,000 TB of data._ is a wast of space and energy in my eyes. Do we really need this? Sure, impressive we can, but do we really need this?
I think I do like Mozilla a bit more than Google https://www.theverge.com/2022/6/10/23131029/mozilla-ad-blocking-firefox-google-chrome-privacy-manifest-v3-web-request
@prologic ui. nice. even dw.com works in lynx. But I find it super hard to read. Sometimes you really need pictures to understand the context.
@prologic Me using Safari and Firefox with Add-ons. In FF I open all sites in their own containers. Works ok. I don't like cookies, uBlock Badger etc. CleanURLS etc.
@movq The problem might also be, that the teenager do not use websites that much as we do. Most of them (rough guess 90% ???) use Apps. Facebook, TikTok, Messenger, WhatsApp, Apps from Newssites etc. They don't use the web as we use it. They are imprisoned inside their smartphones.
@lyse Me too, if it happens naturally, ok, but man made? I think the same as you.
@lyse Me neither, but today the color white is hopefully made out of something else🤪

@prologic IIRC (not sitting in front of my pc right now): in apples photos on macOS I clicked auto magic wizard button and then I have chosen the dramatic filter. After that I adjusted a little bit the shadows and highlights to make it a bit darker. Also modified the curves a bit. A bit more red and a bit less blue (I think). Cropped form 4:3 to 3:2
@rrraksamam Welcome to the yarniverse.
@prologic yes they are. When I compare them to mine I did in the past of human beings, mine are not even close as sharp. But I only had a Canon 450D beginners cam with a cheap lens.
@ionores Yes I do like the elephant as well. There is sooo much detail in its skin. Amazing creatures.
@novaburst good morning. Five attacks? That is quite unusual if I may say so. But, nice ability.
@movq Just watched S5E1 - impressive work and I am happy that we have all these helpers.
@movq LOL the show, even on YouTube, is not available in The Netherlands. But guess, invidious hosted in Finland is able to show it to me. Stupid. We are EUROPE! Make it just freely available here. wth
I was out and took a walk / bike ride. Found a nice bridge where I took the chance to take a picture. What do you think?

OMG this is so high, much much higher then expected. And I thought Germany and The Netherlands are having problems with inflation.

Turkey's inflation rate hit 73.5% in May
The rate is the highest in 24 years in the country of 84 million people. The most affected sectors are transportation and food, where yearly costs increased about 107% and 92%, respectively.

@prologic I started reading https://learning.oreilly.com/library/view/learning-go/9781492077206/ and https://learning.oreilly.com/library/view/go-building-web/9781787123496/ and https://learning.oreilly.com/library/view/go-in-practice/9781633430075/ - Dont know if this is ok. I also managed to look at TestDrivenDev with Go. There is this nice website online https://quii.gitbook.io/learn-go-with-tests/
@prologic No I will not ditch it completely. But I do not have the time to look into it at the moment. I have it on reminder in autumn, when I hope more things are done and polished and I have a bit more free time that I can dedicate to it.
@ullarah Yes, with more and more people coming back to the offices, or forced to go back, a lot of work is asked to be done by management who still sits home (I still feel it this way sometimes). Don't run into a burnout or similar.

I hope you do enjoy your vacation. We definitively will. But more on that later :-)
@prologic I am also super sorry for not being able to work on the pollinator project. But I did ditch Golang actually as I was not able to dedicate time to it. Unfortunately... I might do it in Python, as I need to learn how to do web dev with that and Flask.
@prologic Hey 👋 back to you too 😉 - I don't know actually. I got attracted by some other projects, was more active on Twitter the last days involved talking about all kinds of things. I had to dedicate time to learning Python and some others things for the job which kept me more busy than I thought. Also vacation planning took a big part of free time out of work for planning and organizing things.

I will post more pictures soon. Promised! More scenery images coming. I hope at least. Don't know how good the internet connection will be.
