So here's a genuine concern: for the whole last week, I've had a cold (its definitely not covid - there haven't been any confirmed cases in the Hunter Region at all) . If I can catch a cold so easily during a time where we are all supposedly being precautious and aware of hygiene, how much more easier is it for covid to spread through the community?
This is a sad day. My most viewed picture on Google maps is no longer milk...its now a cereal box
In america: riots\n\nDown under: vaccines\n\nConclusion: America needs to be flipped upside down like us
@dilbert but did they say that I'd say this?
@stats who'll be the 300th user?
@ionores and now that it's a few days dry, it doesnt come off easily!
I accidentally left paper in the pocket of one of my pair of shorts while washing my clothes and now it's all through my laundry
@prologic yes...i don't use any of those in daily life (unless you count YouTube as Google.) I use ddg for searches, vivaldi/outlook for mail and apps like 7+, 9now etc for entertainment
@prologic very light sprinkles. Which is less compared to all this week.
I'm not saying it's bad, and I'm not saying it's good. I'm just saying that there was rain outside.
Rain.\n\nJust thought I'd let you know we had a small bit of rain just now.\n\nCarry on with your day/night.
@razetime OPPO is cool and I use android. Also I didn't want Samsungs watch os because if I want to make apps for it, I'd have to learn a new language. But OPPO uses wearos, which uses Java and Android Studio which I already have setup
@prologic my Christmas was interesting to say the least
@prologic it's good that there is a whole bunch of activity happening!
Y'all be really active it seems. My RSS feed reader keeps giving me messages. My OPPO watch keeps vibrating every now and again with new activity lol.
I find it fitting that Tim-Brooke Taylor won his last ever game of Mornington Crescent. #isihac
@prologic seeing as how I don't know Go or web tech, how could I contribute to twtxt?
@prologic also, some people might make accounts with the intention of using twtxt as a way of communication but then go on hiatus for different reasons. They might very well come back. I know I did. I made my account after seeing this repo on github and went on hiatus due to exams and school. I know I'd be confused if I came back and found my account deleted.
@prologic that bracket should have been a question mark
@prologic base64 compress inactive twtxt files)
@prologic I thought the whole point of decentralisation was that there wasn't one single entity controlling things like accounts.
@prologic and all this time here's me thinking blind archery meant putting a blindfold on.
@prologic why? Wouldn't that go against the idea of decentralisation?
@prologic but seriously. How do people write custom timestamps on twtxt or goryon? Or are they using a custom client? I actually honestly don't know, and I'm probably missing something extremely obvious here.
@prologic I'm not. I seriously want to know how
@prologic but how do they control when they write?
@mckinley @prologic _how_ do you write in the future?
@prologic that's the thing. I'm starting university next year so I'm on break rn
That moment when you have to use chalk to help figure out the solution to #AdventOfCode
Whoa what happened with @admin?
@slashdot @prologic well lucky for me i know a place where I won't ever see ads in my timeline! Honestly, twtxt is _way cooler_ than twitter
@prologic @razetime well I have to wait ~2 weeks for it to grow back and then I have to wait for a cool enough day to mow, because it's summer down under. And summer means 40°c+ days~
@prologic I'll try next time. The problem was that the grass didn't show the letters well. I only did the F and realised the rest was futile
@prologic rather unremarkable. Probably the most exciting thing I did was attempt to now the word "frick" onto my lawn.
Don't worry, I didn't forget to post a twt today
The following information is irrelevant to everyone in this world except me: I'm going to bed now.
@prologic I wonder if they would have been so complacent if the panic of COVID was still active.
@prologic 🤔\n\nWell it ain't me that's for sure. How do I know? Because I'm not even in Queensland!!! 🤣🤣🤣
@adi @prologic you mean 5000 people might view this sentence in a day? \n\n\nWOO! I'M INTERNET FAMOUS THANKS TO TWTXT.NET!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@prologic oh yeah I remember now. There was a really big storm on the night of the 16th.
@prologic what happened on the 17th of November?
@xandkar @prologic this is probably a bit late, but here's an accurate description of how the private leaderboard scores points: "[Local Score], which awards users on this leaderboard points much like the global leaderboard. If you add or remove users, the points will be recalculated, and the order can change. For N users, the first user to get each star gets N points, the second gets N-1, and the last gets 1. This is the default". This is taken from the AOC ordering explanation
@prologic @xandkar it has the same point scoring rules as the global leaderboard: the first person in the local group to solve the days challenge gets the most, the second person gets a less amount of points and so on until the 100th person
@prologic twtxt for kids does sound like a good idea (and yes, I was able to figure out where you meant parent[s]...i just thought it was a funny thing to point out).
@prologic "and our target market are children (like my wife and i) with children that would not allow their children to use social media at all.". Since when did kids have kids?!? 🤣🤣🤣
@adi a lot of messages from twt_txt on my rss reader
That's a lot of following going on overnight
@prologic did you notice it was considerably easier than the last two days? I got 193/777 today
@prologic try it with this input list and tell me what it outputs.
@prologic don't worry. I completely missed it and only figured it out after it was pointed out by some other code golfers
@prologic the whole entire "leave only the top halve" part is a little misleading/a complicated way
@prologic RRR gives row seven. Sub R with 1 and you have 111 (which is binary for 7)
@prologic this is something I only learnt from others: the first seven characters (F and Bs) are a binary representation of the row number. The last 3 chars (L and Rs) are a binary representation of the column number.
@prologic try converting it as a binary number
Okay. Everyone doing #AdventOfCode, here's the leaderboard code: 623094-892b378d
and now I can't delete the duplicate twts
the mobile app went black and I had to restart the app
Nope did not post that twice. That's a bug
@prologic why do you implement error handling in your #AdventOfCode solutions? There's guaranteed a correct solution somewhere in the data, and they usually don't throw any silly data.
@prologic I just simply multiplied it by the number of rows
#AdventOfCode part 2 today was annoying. It involves field validation and stupididly formatted test cases.
Ight who's completed day 3 of AOC yet?\n\nI got rank 350 for star 1 and rank 690 for star 2\n\n#https://twtxt.net/search?tag=advent-of-code>
@birb since twtxt was highlighted on a popular Go language repository site.
Here's another truth: the world ain't round. All you people who believe the earth is round have been deceived and lied to by the government and the education system.\n\nInstead, the earth is _not real_. That's right. Something can't have shape if it doesn't exist.
@mww yes! Someone who knows the truth!
@prologic I'm not seeing where your solutions are just yet.
@prologic it is. Another esolang with another custom encoding scheme.
@prologic a language called 05AB1E and Python
@prologic no. On the AOC, you can create private leaderboards so that you can track who completed fastest out of a smaller group than the default public/global leaderboard. For example, I'm a part of the Code Golf StackExchange leaderboard, meaning I can track my position against other code golfers. I'm saying I'd make a leaderboard to track our rankings against other twtizens.
If enough twtizens join aoc, I'll make a private leaderboard for this pod.
@prologic you get points for being in the first 100 to complete each part. 1st gets 100 points, 2nd gets 99 and so on until you get to the 100th, who gets 1 point.
@prologic which I haven't managed to do in 2 years. I got 1788th for part 1
@prologic now all you need to do is try and get in the first 100 for each day
@adi @prologic just go pick it up lol. Nothing beats a nice large fries.
@prologic I was ordering MacDonald's on the app and this came up
Mmmmm yes, I love the taste of TextView
objects! Makes the meal taste even better :p\n\n
\n\nJust a little something I did at my local Bunnings
@prologic okay second question: what's a git submodule?
@stats @prologic out of curiosity: what inspired the creation of twtxt.net and the twt.social project?
