Need to make a plan for this time off. At the very least a daily plan of some kind, otherwise my days will fly and I would have done nothing at the end of it. Of course, doing nothing is sure something, but still.

To further complicate things, I was just told I am on call from tomorrow until the 22nd, and from 2022-01-01 till 2022-01-07. WTF?!
@fastidious You might want to have a look at Go and improve yarnd.
@fastidious Being on call really sucks. So you're a system operator?
@lyse the name of my position is systems engineer. Right now I am the only one managing the storage appliances (Pure Storage and NetApp), the managed file transfer cluster (GoAnywhere) and the load balancers (BIG-IP F5). I also do Linux system administration (with a bunch of other little things tossed in it). And, as a catch all, “other tasks as assigned”—clearly written in my position description.

@fastidious Ah, you're the chief cook and bottle washer.
@lyse kind of. It sucks. Oh, and I make $25K less than my peers, who often seek advice from me, and whose work I often have to redo/fix. 😞
@fastidious Yeah, that really sucks a lot. I was in the same situation with incompetent and overpaid work mates at my previous job. Except, I never agreed to be on call.
@fastidious Do you at least tell them when they screwed up? 😅 Not that it necessarily helps, most people never learn – but some do!

@movq oh, I do. 😂 it helps me little, but I do my best to show them the right way. As the saying goes “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.
@fastidious Man, you'd hope to be well compensated, with those responsibilities, and on call in holiday time. I'm with @prologic: why so much less than your peers?
