Get vaccinated if you are able. At this point, if you are able and choosing not to, you are being incredibly selfish, full stop.

Whilst I respect your opinion, I restpfectully disagree with you. It is not selfish (_depending on your motiviations_). Much like the Influenza viruses, we really shouldn't be calling these "vaccines". We are giving people a false sense of security. These are not well tested with longitudinal studies, these "vaccines" were rushed without proper testing. No doubt you've seen where even fully vaccinated persons continue to both carry, spread and even contract the disease. The Deltra variant is even now plaguing many parts of Australia...

... And the local city where I live has gone into full lock down (_actually we've been in mask wearing, restricted movements for the past month now_). The inevitable outcome I fear is that this virus will become just like the Common Cold (_Rhino Virus_), Flu (_Influenze A and B_) and just about every other strain of respatory viruses out there which are hard to have 100% protection against (_if not impossible_).

The time to hit this on the head and stop it dead in its tracks has long since come and gone. We _could_ have stopped this by locking down the planet hard, but we didn't. 😒 Now we have to live with it. 😑

Oh and speaking of being selfish... You know what selfish means? It means people getting on a Bus (_public transport_) coughing and splattering without any regard for anyone else on the bus (_god only knows what disease they're haboiring_), people getting on a Train sneezing, sniffing, coughing and splattering everywhere. You know how great ventilation systems are in Busses and Trains Im' sure. So let's now start with who's selfish and who's not 🀣\n\nI choose to go nowhere. I will permanently stay in my home. πŸ˜‚

The rushed theory is false, as I understand it. They've been working on coronaviruses for a long time, and were largely successful in conducting in parallel many of the steps that were done sequentially in slower times.
And the possibility of the vaccinated continuing to spread the disease is the CDC (and others?) being cautious, as I understand it. The trials focused on vaccine efficacy, unsurprisingly, so they're suggesting belt and braces until that testing is completed.
@jlj Perhaps πŸ˜‰ It _could_ have been stopped though. We'vecertainlyy stopped other cov-sars and other pathogens before.

That said, I too believe that this will be incorporated into a jab, like influenza, to be fought in perpetuity. And people won't take it. And they'll sneeze all over public transport. And continue to endanger the vulnerable all around us. :-(
@jlj I don't think any vaccine especially for viruses really stops you from a) harboring it or b) potentially spreading it. It really helps you potentially from being overcome by it.

@jlj Yup precisely! I only wish there was a better way to deal with all this. Thise of us that work with tech are fortunate, we can choose to work from home.

@jlj Speaking of endangering vulnerable, you should have seen the recent riots we had in three major cities in Australia last week. Disgusting πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

It's such a *%&#show, and governments share the lion's share of the blame, as far as I'm concerned. It was another thing to be gamed for their advantage, until it was too late.\n\nAnd don't even get me started on their complete abdication of the responsibility to inform their constituency, in a timely, clear, and concise fashion.\n\nUtterly shameful. Five minutes on Session or Telegram makes me mad enough to eat my phone. And I can't blame the doubters.*
@prologic Agreed. Could've stopped. Horses and the barn now, I'd say.
@prologic I landed a tech job a month before lockdown. All my mates from care work got it. Crazy lucky for me.\n\nAnd, I'd heard about a riot; didn't realise it's been three! D:
@jlj Yup it’s all true! This whole thing is a big fat f’n joke! 😱 So much politics involved 😳 And don’t even get me started on those that have profited massively from all this! 😑

Whole lot of false statements here. The vaccines are well-tested & well-studied, and are safe and effective. Breakthrough cases exist with every vaccine. If you are able and the vaccine is approved for you, choosing not to get it puts everyone around you at risk, including risk of additional variants developing.

@anth It's irresponsible, blanketing with "a lot of false statements here." Thanks for treating us like peers. :-/
But I guess you have more important things to do with your time. Sorry for cluttering your feed.
Sadly I genuinely believe it's not possible to have a civil conversation about the SARS-COV-2 virus or any of the three? available "vaccines". I don't think it was possible to in the first place. I'm not sure why, but I possibly put a lot of blame on social media and the increased influences both government and corporations have over us all. The really truly sad thing is, instead of the planet banding together as one and fighting this thing head on and killing it dead in it's tracks, we've instead done the opposite, every man and dog for himself. WHO? What WHO....

Vaccines? I'd rather give them to the poor countries and the vulnerable. Lock everywhere down until we beat this and it can no longer spread. But sure let's just keep pushing "vaccines" as the solution. The variants are already here and continuing to evolve. Sorry @anth it's all a bit late. And in case you want to bite my head off, I'm not actually eligible.

Also I _really_ don't think anyone here has particularly said anything "false" per se. These are just our opinions, observations and it's just (_or was_) a friendly discussion you started (_started by a strong demanding statement I might add_).

> No testing phase has been skipped during the development of the COVID-19 vaccines. Some of the testing phases have been combined or run at the same time to help test COVID-19 vaccines quickly and make them available as soon as possible.

This from my local government -- Sure okay "tests" were done, but my _belief_ this was rushed isn't as false as one might think? What "official" information do you have @jlj ? πŸ€”

@jlj @prologic Interesting thread lol
@will 🀣 what’s interesting about it? 😁
@will 🀣 what’s interesting about it? 😁
@prologic Well it's interesting to hear people's thoughts on a controvertial global and topical issue πŸ˜†. That's what social media is all about I guess.
@will I agree that’s is the point of socialism in the first place no matter what form it takes place 😁

@will Meanwhile in our local area where we’re in hard lock-down; we’ve seen several dozen people roaming about in violation, no masks, and clearly not a critical reason to leave their homes!

@prologic Can I just say, as a guy who got vaxed a few months ago, I love the Freedom (USA!) it affords me to go to my favorite grocery store and bar πŸ˜‚. However the thought has crossed my mind more than a few times that if people were good at cooperation a 1 month global lockdown in March 2020 would have solved all of our problems... ah well
I actually got the vax at work because my boss sent me an email that they had some extra ones. The second dose was frankly pretty painful. Since I'm pretty sure I'm due for a third sometime soon, I can't help but wonder, will it be better or worse? And furthermore as a guy who blew off the last 3 years of flu shots out of laziness I've enjoyed not having to worry about that outdated virus since everybody masking up shut it down... seemingly...
I picked a great year to get into the STALKER video game / book / movie. When I wear mask to the grocery I feel like one of those chernobyl fellas
@will Interesting perspective! πŸ‘Œ At this stage I _believe_ that ultimately this SARS-COV-2 will just end up like every other respiratory virus and much like the Flu itself unless there's a medical/technology breakthrough we'll also be a few steps behind and fighting the most virulent strains of the reason. 😳 Of course I agree with you, if globally we had locked ourselves down and did absolutely nothing but eat, sleep and stay indoors, we would have completely elimited this and many other contagons πŸ˜€ Oh well! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

@prologic my most extreme opinion is we should ban boomers from international flights... naval travel only. πŸ˜‚
@prologic the thing i'm most upset about is they say "long covid" has some effects. I dont like that. If we are just supposed to accept that... I'm mad... One thing you learn in biology school is 10% of the human genome is historical viral inserts. These little shits have been pushing us around long enough imo. They're not even legitimate organisms. It's just insulting

@anths @xjix I also support them, for the record, and had my second jab three weeks ago.
