I just love that DuckDuckGo’s default target unit for converting inches is … kilometers. 🤣

@movq the he'll?& Kilometers??? 😆

@movq @prologic Of course parsec would be the desired unit! At least it did not select feet, miles, or shots, … That's a fun list of units. I always use units 42inch cm on the shell when converting.
@movq as if there's any other way to do it? :-)
@lyse Omg, how did I not know about the units command line tool? I’m gonna use that from now on. 😅

@movq It took me also quite a long time to get introduced to it. You also probably want to use the -t or --terse flag to get a better output. Not sure why --compact and --one-line aren't the defaults. The only downside with this program is that you need to put fractions in parenthese and then quote the whole thing: units -t '(3/8)inch' mm
@lyse more like limitations of the shell, lol
But only the quotes, not the parentheses, @novaburst. I'd like to write just 3/8inch. I should create a bunch of shell functions to help with that.
@lyse Luckily, I don’t need things like 3/8 inch very often. :D I pretty much always use decimal points for everything. And, yes, -t is better! 👍

@movq With all these American crafts videos, fractions are unavoidable for me. I don't know the decimal equivalents for the more esoteric ones.
@lyse I see. 🤔 So, not only do they use those fancy freedom units, but they also use fractions on top of that? 🤨

@movq What barbarians! 7/13th of a frankenstein.
