I forgot to backup my Thunderbird profile using their software; restoring the directory structure from backup wasn't doing the trick, until I found a Mozilla support article explaining how Thunderbird uses `profiles.ini`. Bacon saved! Very happy.
@jlj pretty cool, a touch of good luck, eh? How is Thunderbird these days? Any major, exciting changes? You are the only person I know using it. These days I mostly handle my email on mobile, using the default Mail app. If I need to interact via email whilst on the desktop, I mostly use the browser or, for longer emails, the default OS app as well.
@fastidious I think there have been some major changes, particularly around cryptographic integrations. I'm pretty vanilla in my usage since ending my hiatus from it last year; prior to that, it was probably the mid 2000s, when I was last what you'd call an active user.

I initially wanted a palatable means of keeping on top of my spam awash cloud accounts, but it's properly won my heart once again since.
