@eldersnake @prologic ...for compiling for macOS. I believe is great to self host but one the problems is that GitHub is so tied up in a lot of stuff, like https://jamstack.org/ or https://opencollective.com/. Is there an IndieWeb equivalent to GitHub ⭐s?

@eldersnake @prologic I was actually talking something like stars for an url or a web site? Sounds Indieweb-ish.

@prologic https://www.w3.org/TR/webmention/ -ish I guess. Just notify an url another url has liked/starred it?

@adi Hmmm in practice I find web mentions aren’t very widely used. I agree though that could be used as the mechanism/protocol.

@prologic @adi getting late to the conversation. But I love the #indieweb standard. My website uses it fully. I'm now trying to interface it with yarns like it have with twitter. It would be nice if yarn do some actions by itself.
@prologic @adi and... I don't understand what the webmention module in yarn does. There is some docs about it? I don't understand go enough to figure it thru the sources.
@lohn @prologic I have to implement lots of #indieweb stuff myself, I don't believe webmentions are implemented in any way in yarn? @prologic

@adi @prologic Yup! I made some tests. It's really generally simpler and easier to use. Congratulations!
@prologic Please, don't get me wrong. Yarn is a fantastic software as is. I'm just making a suggestion.\n\nI have my main site at https://lohn.in\nEverything I post there can be crossposted to my other networks. At this time ActivityPub and that bird one.
@lohn @prologic Those posts gets their comments and other interactions brought back to the main site.\nThis is the #Indieweb way to #OwnYourData
@lohn @prologic And to make it runs with #Yarn, I've to make some middleware. And I don't want to crosspost everything. Some discussions happen only here. Some only there. But the content I think that should last, I want to be automatic shared.
@lohn @prologic Sorry if I make it hard to understand. In my head it looks simple.
@lohn No I _totally_ get it. I've tried my best to integrate Yarn with #IndieWeb -- Hence every profile page supports microformats and every permalink to a yarn supports microformats and webmentions. I will try to document this as you asked (_have it in my todo list_).

Based on your last few posts, I sympathize with your frustrations, part (_very small_) I'm not on any other social media besides Yarn.social; but I'm struggling to understand what I can do? Would adding ActivityPub support help? I'm not sure...

One of the problems I find is that the ecosystem (_social medai, messaging_) is so disparate that it's really hard to integrate anything and have seamless "conversations" no matter what platform you choose. So you have two choices: a) be on one platform b) be on all platforms -- But the later sucks because the interop isn't there and whilst the business model remains "advertising" it never will be IHMO. So I choose the former. Yarn.social is it for me πŸ€— -- But I will do everything I can do make it better for as many folks as we can!

@lohn I just have a quick look at your site https://lohn.in and I _think_ I understand what you want (_sort of_). I need help though... I've tried to integrate as much of #IndieWeb into #Yarn as I initially _thought_ feasible and "made sense", microformats and webmentions (_although maybe it's broken now? I hardly see it used :/_) -- In any case I _think_ we can improve this...

@prologic @lohn Oh, I'd missed this. Need to brush up on webmentions; it was something I was certainly interested in last year...

@adi @prologic I modified the base theme and generated some test pages with sh generated content. I confess it runs better than expected.
@lohn So the webmentions in yarnd currently works like this (_assuming it still works_). If you @-mention another user on a remote pod where you don't yet follow that user, they get notified via the @twtxt bot on their pod to say they got mentioned from blah on twt blah.\n\nSecondly if a website mentions a twt permalink on their site, that'll also trigger a @twtxt bot notification to say blah mentioned twt blah from site blah.\n\nThat's what's been implemented so far.... But I hardly ever see it used, so I'm not sure if it still works 🀣
