NATO Secretary-General Warns Cyberattacks Could Trigger Article 5
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Friday that cyberattacks could trigger Article 5 of the organization's charter, the so-called "commitment clause" that considers an attack on any NATO ally an attack on all. NBC News reports: Stoltenberg's comment comes as national security professionals and cybersecurity industry professionals remai ... ⌘ Read more

@prologic unfortunately, I think there'll always be someone fighting for more and more power over others. If I had more skills geared toward offensive or defensive cyber security, I'd be helping Ukraine any way I can.
@screem As would I πŸ‘Œ

Have a read here as well https://www.dw.com/en/hybrid-war-in-ukraine-began-before-russian-invasion/a-60914988 Russian cyberwar started long ago against former Sowjet states. Now, we Europeans, are taking it a β€œbit” more seriously. I am sad to say that I feel a ashamed of Germany when it comes to IT. We are still so 2000’ish in many places.
@screem @prologic on the other hand it is Putin who has built his reign of Yes-saying followers and is backed up by a lot Oligarchs. On the other hand, we buy Gas and other things from Russia that in return he uses against Europe to destabilize democracy. He is much more afraid of Democracy than anything else. He needs his system and no other. When Russian speaking people in other countries learn the benefits from living in democratic states, they will tell others. A lot of young Russian people are leaving their country. All the reasons for the war against are bullshit.
@carsten Perks of globalisation, we pay money for goods from people that may not have the best intentions. I'm hoping there's something that can be done to get Putin to back down but I'm thinking he might be too proud and stubborn to do so πŸ˜•
One other thing I'd like to see come from this war, but likely won't, is Western countries supporting countries like Ukraine against foreign governments seeking to invade _before_ it's a full blown war. I feel that's a major weakness for the West at large.
@screem I don't know, I think this whole west versus east thing just perpetuates the same problem. I think we need to move pastas πŸ‘Œ

@prologic I fully agree however we need our world leaders to push this as well. Unfortunately, the reality is someone will be fighting to perpetuate their ideology across the world or wanting to take resources by force, so I don't see this happening in our lifetime at the least.
