@jlj it looks lovely! Please provide feedback as you start using it. I already pay for a few monthly subscriptions, so am careful about adding another. I used to have Apple News, but didnβt like the format with everything looking different, and still plenty of adverts, so I cancelled it.
@jlj That app looks _really_ cool π I _probably_ won't purchase a subscription through or use it myself, but this is something I've been wanting to solve for myself, part the reason I created the feeds.twtxt.net service. If you have any ideas on how we can improve this service and it's codebase I'm all ears! π One idea I have is to support some kind of DSL to help create custom feeds from various sources with some filtering and/or transformation logic....

@prologic the problem is that quality content isnβt free. I already see drawbacks with this app, because they offer βcuratedβ articles and blogs. In other words, hand picked opinions. Not necessarily bad, but that will not beat a big news company, with plenty of research behind the many articles and news they publish.\n\nEven if I donβt like Apple News, I think it is the best for the money one can get today, specially on the Apple One plan.
@fastidious No I agree, "quality" (_for various definitions of_) isn't free, this is true. Quality news-like content (_especially ones that are unbiased_) are hard to come by. I do however feel that we can at least provide a way to cleanup the mess that exists in the wild. This works well so far, but there's no filtering or transformation (yet).
OTOH I agree with your statement though on content not being free...

Q: Would you consider paying a subscription for one or more Twtxt feeds that have quality publishers behind them? π€

@prologic twtxt is quite niche, like, almost rare (on Diablo III loot terms, it is like finding a perfect primal, that rare). So, most likely I would not.\n\nNow, I would be willing to pay a subscription for quality publishers RSS feeds. Absolutely.
@fastidious \n\n> Now, I would be willing to pay a subscription for quality publishers RSS feeds. Absolutely.\n\nIf you're willing to pay for quality content published via RSS, why not Twtxt / Yarn.social too? π€ I don't get your logic there, niche, but only if we keep it that way and don't allow it to flourish π

@prologic because RSS can be consumed by a very rich biome of apps. RSS is a proven, feature rich web feed, pretty much supported everywhere. That was not the intent for twtxt, nor is it now, unless I am wrong.
@fastidious You are _very_ much wrong π Have you tried the feeds service to see how it handles RSS/Atom and Twitter π€£ Okay okay it's still needs more work and polish, but I'm working on it π
That being said though, I do agree with you, RSS/Atom was designed and purpose spec'd for this. But going from RSS/Atom to Twtxt (_and even other sources_) and especially the extended Twtxt that Yarn.social supports is _actually trivial_ and what's more _actually useful_.
So I put to you good sir, try it and give me that feedback I love from you!
