Complaints Mount After GitHub Launches New Algorithmic Feed
GitHub has introduced a new feed into the dashboard of users and it doesn't appear to have gone down well with the code shack's regulars. The Register reports: As soon as the new feed arrived, replete with all kinds of exciting suggestions for developers to look at, the complaints began rolling in as users worried the recommendations were turning Git ... ⌘ Read more
@slashdot Why am I not surprised. Microsoft takes over Github and now they wants to squeeze the most money out of it they can!

Here's what I predict next:

- They will collect all your data (Commit Messages, PR Titles, Comments, etc)
- Sell this data to advertisers
- Show you targeted ads.

Mark my words, this will happen!

RIP Github.

@prologic In your Blog Post you mention Julia Reda. She is the one who is fighting for digital rights. * Julia Reda is a German researcher and politician who was Member of the European Parliament from Germany. She was a member of the Pirate Party Germany until 27 March 2019, part of The Greens–European Free Alliance. She has been Vice-President of the Greens/EFA group since 2014.* from Wikipedia. I would trust her if I have to.
@carsten Despite that, and I didn't know she's that well known, but you wouldn't expect me to anyway, as I'm not from that part of the world 😅 ... I still stand by:

> I don’t know who this Julia Reda is, but even though she’s right about Github/Microsoft not technically infringing on (©) Copyright per se, what has been (and is being done) is a direction violation of many open source licenses.

This is still 100% a direct violation of _many many_ open source licenses.
