Currently going through all my music collection after quite some time again. Oh man, what crap had accumulated there? Issuing rm

@lyse That's been a silver lining of my hardware failure: using an app associated with my newly-acquired Synology DiskStation to generate random playlists and rediscover old gems. My collection has been too big to host in one place for many years now, prior to this.
Found some stinkers too, of course. π
@lyse Name some examples? π

@lyse I used to have a few thousand of songs, some βacquiredβ on the nets, some carefully ripped from CDs. Not anymore. All the music I hear now comes from Apple Music. Anything I want, or likeβand then someβis there.
@movq E.g. Die Prinzen have a few great songs, but also a ton of really boring and even terrible shit (can't be more specific, because I removed most of it). @fastidious @ullarah I want to own my music on my devices and want to be able to listen offline, too. So all this cloud stuff is nothing for me.
@lyse Aaahhh, ooohh, I see. π βEs ist alles in der Cloud! Eeeoo, eeeoo β¦β
I like to own my music, too. I still buy CDs.

πππ I know I might sound philosophical, but we own nothing. We borrow things for a, rather short, period of time.
I know many people prefer local, offline access to music and videos; and that some prefer to buy both on physical media. As the complete opposite, I rather use the clouds for that. If they are not available due to any reason, I go and smell the flowers π.
@fastidious That goes to show that humans are indeed very different. π β

@fastidious Yep, enjoying nature is a very good alternative in most cases. ;-)
