Virgin Galactic Is Looking For 1,000 People To Buy Its $450,000 Spaceflight Tickets
Virgin Galactic announced that it's opening ticket sales to the general public for its spaceflight system, "letting you become an astronaut if you're willing to pay $450,000 and put down a $150,000 deposit," reports Engadget. From the report: For that $450K, you'll get a 90-minute ride to the edge of space in ... ⌘ Read more
Dear Richard Branson,

I can _literally_ think of better things to spend $450,000,000 ($450M) on like helping some poor African communities have _actually_ goodness to gracious clean drinking water.

Why don't we cancel the Virgin Galactic flights and worry about our own Planet and the resources and people on it before we look to the stars?

Kind regards

@prologic it is $450,000, not $450M. Still a seizable amount of money, but not on the same order of magnitude. Also, we can do both: worry about our own planet and resources, and people, and look to the stars. We wouldn't be anywhere if we didn't do many things at once. :-)
@david Dis you not see the ask for 1,000 customers at $450,000 ea? That adds up if I'm not mistaken to nearly half a billion 😆

@prologic ah, the way I read it it seemed you meant $450M/each. My bad! 🤦🏻‍♂️😂
@david Haha nah 🤣 You are right though, we _can_ do both, but seeing stories like this from Virgin (Richard Branson's company) makes me very upset. Call me an idealist, but this is such a fucking waste of money and resources.
