RIP minecraft, now you must you have a microsoft account in order to play it, and it's Windows only, too. https://ttm.sh/irF.jpeg
@novaburst out of interest, are you able to provide a link to an article that says you won't be able to play on Linux or MacOS? Haven't been able to find anything atm
@screem I think the Java edition (the original one) will be discontinued in favor of the Bedrock ("new" one) variant
@novaburst I _think_ you should try to dig up evidence, links, articles and such and post them here in this Yarn for for "posterity" maybe even #hashtag it #Minecraft to -- Google and other search engines do index Yarn.social (quite quickly too I might add) 😅

@novaburst from what I've seen through brief searches, Java Edition will still be supported but Bedrock will take priority for Microsoft. Makes sense considering it's the cross-platform edition. Read it here
@novaburst everything else I've seen seems to share the same sentiment. Definitely will be a massive change but if they decide to phase out Java Edition completely, I feel Hytale will come out ahead with the modding community.
@novaburst as somebody who had to migrate 40 accounts, create new Microsoft accounts for each etc., it is such an strange move. I can see why they're doing it, but they should have just let pre-existing accounts be and have new Minecraft accounts be associated with Microsoft.
