@tkanos indeed. latin is one of handful of root languages that waters the downstream flowers of linguistics.
it's quite troubling when authorities try to flex by googling smart-sounding latin quotes and interject them into a modern english conversation. what's even more troubling for them is when i start speaking conversational latin in response.
at least my education is not totally akin to lighting money on fire. :-)
@mutefall Bwahahahahaaaaa, nice! :-D So the only real use case for latin is to troll business administration dudes. Over here in Germany they're all still bullshitting with English terms.
@lyse i haven't lived there for many years, but when i did the only ones who would speak english with me were younger people, as a result i learned as they say trial by fire. and a lot of laughter from the residents :-)

I was in Switzerland for sometimes and only know how to say danke schon bitte schon gluten tag shuten tag .
@mutefall Hehe! ;-) Well, a lot of younger people can speak English. Not so much the retired ones. Not sure but I think nowadays they teach English in elementary school or even kindergarden. In the technical industry, especially IT, lots of suits replace every second word with an English one. It sounds awful and often doesn't make any sense.
