@nmke-de https://www.saksoft.com/blog/rss-vs-atom/

I got to say that in the last few years I've used Atom almost exclusively. I remind parsing XML RSS feeds by hand 15 or 20 years ago, so I could say it's a really old format by Internet standards.

That said I switched from read only feeds to microblogging or chats. Reading offline is nice but I don't do it enough nowadays.
@nmke-de I've been wanting to write about this in a formal manner. I'll try to get a post out about it today on mckinley.cc.

Spoiler: Atom is better.
@mckinley I’m looking forward to that! I’ve settled on Atom a long time ago, because it was “simpler”, fewer options, and the likes. But I don’t have an informed opinion about that, forgot all the details of RSS, so I’m curious about your writeup.

@eaplmx @mckinley @movq Yup, same here. I started out with RSS feeds, because that's all I knew. After hearing about Atom feeds, bit by bit I switched everything to Atom. But that's too long ago, can't remember the details anymore. So gleefully waiting to read some sound facts.
