[]() the new EGO electric ride on mower. I’m putting it on my Xmas list. despite the fact it won’t actually fit through our side gate!
@kt84 How long does the battery last? I'm skeptical of electric yard equipment like that. I had to borrow an electric string trimmer a few weeks ago. Piece of garbage! It struggled to cut through anything, and the battery died in less than 20 minutes. I don't think it was a real inexpensive one, either.

I'll have my real gas one (that would cut your leg off) running by the time the weeds come back.
@mckinley Actually... EGO Power are actually really good shit πŸ˜… They use 48v LiPo batteries (in this nice modular design) and all their "tools" and the motors they use in everything are fully brushless motors.

Essentially, runtimes are long, the motors are very very powerful (you could cut your leg off). They even have a chainsaw (which I have) as well as a powerful blow vac (air) and hedger, and gras trimmer (all of which we have).

The only one of their products that doesn't cut the mustard (so to speak) is the Lawn Mower (not the ride-on one, I'm sure that thing is a powerful beast), which doesn't cut out grass very well, which really is no fault of AGO as our grass is really of a thick and hard to cut variety πŸ˜…

I add to that, I purchased a 18V cheap electric trimmer, ripped the battery bit out, hooked up a 12 metre cable to an old car battery on 12V, and cut anything I like with it, the machine ran at 60% of its strength due to the reduction of the voltage, never was strong enough to break the whipper cord, and while a little less powerful in cutting, I ran the system all day. The only thing that was a little inconvenient was lugging the heavy battery around in 12m increments. On the plus side, I have never changed the whip cord. It's great.
Wow, if I buy the Ni-Fe battery system 48Volt, this would give me 10 amp Hour battery at 48 volts and cost me $1,200 for the batteries including delivery charge, and the total weight would be 25 Kg ! And get this these batteries last forever, a 100 years. You can run them down dead flat no worries and overcharge them again. And mow all day, who mows for a full 8 hours these days?
