am i getting old or has the “mainstream internet” gotten really shitty in the last 2-3 years? i swear every time I try to post somewhere (reddit discord instagram twitter whatever) its an instant YOU ARE BANNED FOR SUBVERSIVE BEHAVIOR. CONFIRM IDENTITY. I just tried to post a gameplay guide on steam for a 12 year old game… “error error error”. wtf mayne
i dont use the sites because i hate them but i am literally banned from instagram and facebook. i have done nothing at all. the worst thing i ever dod was change my fb pic to a pic of zuckerberg with octopus tentacles. my theory is if you dont puke out as much personal data as possible in a “normal way” their “ai” (not real) flags you and terminates

@will, the Internet in general has gotten worse through the years. I can’t help but remember what my parents used to tell me, “when I was your age…” followed by something that was better, and then it was not. I thought it was old folks talk. Well, now is my turn.
I am lucky somehow. I don’t crave for the mainstream social media. I have no interest. Family in both side have tried to get me to Facebook and they have failed. They have tried the nice way, and they have gotten mad. Both approaches have failed.
I am a sporadic Twitter reader. I now dabble here. Tomorrow? Who knows.
Finally, I envy your snow. I haven’t seeing snow, nor touch it with my hands, for over twenty five years. Every Winter I think “this is it”, yet doesn’t happen.

@fastidious When i quit fb about 10 years ago I remember someone later told me “people are mad at you for quitting”, and I thought, “well? tell me to my face or email me!” It’s not hard to keep in touch with your friends in the modern world!!!

@will I tell the same to family. “Call me, message me, or simply drop by.” They don’t live in other countries, not even in other State. Heck, many live within my own phone area code!
“Create a fake account, it is just for family to keep in touch”, they tell me. Absolutely not. Then I remember that amongst the reasons I quit a month or two after joining in 2006 was how I strongly disagreed with everything they were sharing with me: the pushing of their religion down my throat, their racist comments, and their political nuggets so opposite to my own.
So, why to stay in a medium they just upsets me? Yup, no, thank you.
