πŸ’‘ @adi and I were having a discussion virtually in person over at (meet.mills.io) and an interesting idea came up regarding Discoverability of users on Pods and interactions. Right now the /discover and / (_for anonymous users_) only shows the pod's local posts from users on that pod only and nothing more. This makes things very "lonely" and not very interesting, as we now have a lot more pods and a lot more interactions going on...

... the thought came up and was discussed of what if we changed this behaviour to show all posts that the pod has in its cache? This would mean you'd actually see the interactions between various people on that pod even if you didn't have an account, and tie discoverability would also be much improved as well.

What are you thoughts? I'm experimenting with doing this for my pod right now, so let's see...

This is now rolled out to my pod (twtxt.net) so if you're logged in go to Discover if you're an anonymous user, then have a look and let us know what you think (_although you'll also have to be someone I follow or someone follows you for me to get that feedback 😜_)_

@prologic definitely like this idea. Having just launched a new Pod things like this will help for when new users come along.
@prologic I cant test it ATM as I'm in bed but will tomorrow πŸ˜‹
@eldersnake That's where I _shoudl_ be too! πŸ˜‚ In bed 😴 But I just wanna finish up this piece of code that allows me to build new features or play with things but put them behind a "feature flag".

@prologic Looks great!

@prologic @eldersnake @adi I'm loving it! In fact I had the same idea for months but thought that there was a specific reason that it acted like that, so I didn't bother. Very nice!
@prologic Works nice πŸ‘
@prologic Small thing, but I have noticed sometimes the entries double up for some reason \n\n
@eldersnake @adi @lyse I’ll blog about the reason it was done this was originally, but suffice to say those reasons are no longer valid or at least should be configurable πŸ€”

@eldersnake Oh that’s right πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ They would too πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Lemme fix that…

@prologic Sweet as πŸ‘Œ
I like it as a way to discover users on other pods, but will it be toggleable? in this way you can use a specific pod for a specific topic and new people can get a idea of this is the right pod for them
I have also been thinking to rename "Discover" in the UI to "Explore"
@darch We should just probably decide whether it becomes the new default 😁

@darch Hmmm I like the language of β€œExplore” πŸ‘Œ
