@felixp7 why wouldn’t it work across pods? Fact why couldn’t it work across non-pod external feeds to? 🤔

Anyone else have any opinions or thoughts on how to build messaging over Twtxt? @antonio @dooven @lukem ?

@felixp7 Yes you have a good point, I’m still thinking about it… Direct messaging may only work on compatible pods. It may not be possible to work in general for plain twtxt.txt users 🤔

@felixp7 then again it might be possible actually if we create a very simple convention and lightweigjt protocol to initiate a private message in the first place, exchange keys or some kind of authentication for example…

@prologic what about trying to adopt some preexisting format? is there any that would be good? also maintaining two feeds is a bit odd :D

@deadguy Pre-existing formats such as? Re maintaining two feeds being odd, yeah it could be cumbersome without tooling... then again without some kind of encryption it wouldn’t be very private either so I think some level of tooling would still be required?

@prologic @dooven @lukem I agree with other that Direct Messages are useful. I also think the way to go is some sort of encryption. Does it need to be something the is compatible with twtxt? Compatibility would be cool but I think it would make it harder and I am not sure if would be necessary.

@prologic I'm not sure, i was just throwing it out there. are all direct messaging protocols "their own thing"? like, do they only work with and within their designated app? or could we somehow leverage xmpp? i'm just saying a bunch of words here, i don't know if any of this would make sense or be possible/a good idea
