the whole feeds of feeds needs some works
@fastidious You can already select external feed sources. There is a default that points to feeds.twtxt.net - I apologize as I've kind of let it go a bit out of control, it needs cleaning up and a lot of "garbage" removed. I'll try to do that this week some time and clean it all up. Really it should just be "high quality" external feeds, not junk.

@prologic the issue is to fully disable external feeds (pod wide setting), and to provide a way to selectively pick external feeds. Right now we have no seemingly choice.
@fastidious Disabling is easy, we can do that. Selectively picking though, I'm not sure what you mean now? π€

@prologic as a podβs owner, I get a setting showing the current external feed mess, and I get to pick which will show under external feeds for my podβs users. Thatβs what I meant.
I am more interested in disabling them, though, as it is the easier thing to do, as you wrote.
@fastidious So you donβt find subscribing to RSS/Atom and Twitter feeds useful at all? π€ Or do we just need to clean this shit up π€£

@fastidious Sorry I'm still waking up π
Also I can't see that as I think the /feeds view itself is an authenticated view. Can you screenshot it? π€

This is what my pod's Feeds view looks like for External Feeds and towards the end =>

@prologic yup, that mess is what I am talking about. I donβt want it. I think very few people do.
@fastidious Is there something we can do about it besides just nuking the feature, disabling it or otherwise? Is this a good use-case for a search box to find interesting feeds to subscribe

@prologic I am not sure. Right now I can subscribe to any feed without having to find it on a shady list. I really find absolutely no use for it.
Now, granted, I can edit the template and get rid of it, but experience tells me it is a hard and laborious task to keep changes on templates fresh, with the many changes in code still happening. Hence my proposal to make the showing of the external feed configurable via a setting.
@fastidious Sure I understand π
It's a "convenience" thing, so if you don't find it useful that's fine, I do, and I _think_ a few other users do too, granted it does need a bit more work to be more "friendly" and "prettier" (_working on both!_)

But yes we'll add a --disable-feed-sources
option no worries π

What if it was just hidden in a collapsable box?
Collapsable box is (was?) already a thing
