So I _think_ the PR to add support for Twtxt to Mastodon is _probably_ not going to happen by the looks of it 😢 But OTOH I discovered / found out that Mastodon _actually_ has RSS feeds? Can anyone confirm? How does this work? 🤔

@prologic What are you trying to do?
Having the timeline from a Mastodon instance as a twtxt.txt file ?
@eaplmx At this point I'm just curious. Do you know how to access/view the RSS feed of a Mastodon user? 🤔

So with the help of a good 'ol friend (no longer active on Yarn.social / Twtxt, we miss you buddy 😅) I've figured out how Mastodon RSS works and it looks pretty reasonable as a 1-way Mastodon -> RSS -> Twtxt which we can then use in any valid Twtxt client. Seems to work rather nicely 👌

This is very cool.
@prologic Just append .rss to the profile URL, e.g. https://mastodon.example.com/@activitypubrocks45.rss
@prologic plannning a new feature for feeds.twtxt.net ?

@mckinley I never used it... It looks like it shows a limited amount of toots (I don't know if it's limited by num of toots or by date range)

@eaplmx Yes but that won't matter as the Feeds service will basically poll the RSS feed and track it over time writing new Twts into the Twtxt feed 👌 -- This _would_ already work as-is if you just shove in the .rss URI, but I'm going to add first-class support for this with something like: mastodon:user@server

That's not what I got from reading that thread. I think it's more than possible that we'll see outbound integration with twtxt.

As for inbound integration, I think a self-hosted bridge, independent from yarnd or any ActivityPub implementation, is the way to go.

@prologic Well, I just went to confirm, and people are referring to their presence on mastodon with the initial , so... yes, better support both formats!
