@jlj @laz If you are not afraid to skip ahead, there are a good 2 pages on the "Asian disease problem" that is quite relevant to the times (Ch 34 Frames and Reality: Empty Institutions).
What's this "Asian disease" these books reference? Where can I read about this without reading the books? 🤔 Or maybe @laz can you share your recollection? I'm curious...

@prologic Ten years ago. First published in 2011.
@laz Wow! 😳 Soo surreal 😳

Who would have thought eight years later an _actual_ disease allegedly originating from Asia would break out and wreak havoc to the world?! 😳 It's like the Author had seen all the signs on the wall 🤣 (_wet food markets, poor biobazard handling, whatever, who really knows.._) 🤦‍♂️

We should keep SARS in the back of our minds before jumping into sp00ky COVID predictions.

@mckinley You mean like SARS-COV-2 🤣 Anyway... Let's end this conv 😂

@prologic Well, we did have SARS-CoV-1, H5N1, H1N1 before this book. It is a hypothetical circumstance. Both Kahneman and N.N. Taleb have a general skepticism of any anyone described as an expert. It's the naive public that in general fetishizes experts and considers them beyond reproach.
@prologic No, I mean SARS-CoV-1, the outbreak way back in 2003 that seems to have happened in a similar way. We don't need to end the conversation, I just want to point it out.
