I’ve noticed that within several yarns the conversation seems to be off and the reason is that I am not following certain people so their comment does not show up.

It detracts from the conversation a little bit haha. Is that by design? Would it make more sense to have a placeholder?
Hopefully I’m making sense.

So instead of missing bits of conversation a placeholder takes the place of somebody you don’t follow.

It will still follow the privacy part somewhat.
@ullarah That’s be design yeah but “missing Twts” are something we think we can solve at a technical level 👌

The way I sort of think about this problem is, well Yarn.social id designed to be decentralised. You don't necessarily need nor want to be following everyone just to participate in interesting topics, conversations, yarns, etc. There are ideas (_largely by me_) of "following tags" -- which extend to following conversations which are also a form of tag, a Twt Subject Hashtag. There are also ideas of pulling in missing Twts from a search engine (_slirhglt less decentrlaised_). I'm sure we'll solve this, but it will require some careful design and work...

The only idea that comes to my mind is have a per user option (or maybe global?) that states:

Have twts visible by non-followers

With it enabled it would show the text but not the user that said the text… if that makes sense 😂
... I _think_ it's best to avoid the notion of "everyone follows everyone" or "we gravitation towards centralisation", etc. Pod in my opinion should be comprised of smaller inter-connected communities of friends/family/colleagues, folks with similar interests etc. Global conversations/yarns _can_ happen and do already, but it should not require sacrificing what we've built and designed 👌

@ullarah For example a current work-around that works is for you to temporarily "follow" (_as in click the external profile_) of some things you've seen but are obviously missing parts of the conversation/yarn happening so your pod loads it up in it's cache -- But that you don't actually require to follow those feeds/folks permanently per se.

@ullarah It’s a bit more complicated than that 😆 Your pod just simply doesn’t have the Twts in its cache in the first place 🤣

Another possibility that comes to mind is for the Pod to walk up the chain of Twts and figure out if there are any -mentions that you may not follow and your Pod may not have in it's cache and just go temporarily go grab those.

Eventually I can see comments of people I don’t follow, but I have to keep refreshing the yarn. Is that because it is trying to cache the data to my instance?
I’ll eventually get used to all of this. It’s still a brand new concept to me. But I’m still really enjoying this project! 😂
@ullarah From the actions you’ve performed in the video basically yes.
