@prologic So each user on a pod would no even be able to the list of who follows them? Or is it just the counter you want to get rid of? And both for Followers and Following?
@prologic whatβs next, get rid of CSS? π Do you de-badge your cars (remove all lettering from them)? Though one might engage in monologues, sometimes it is worth to know one isnβt talking to the void.
Are you paying for micro.blog? If so, why?
@prologic mastodon makes that configurable, which I think is a decent approach. I actually like to watch my follower count because it can be a good signal for weird stuff happening (especially if it goes up or down by more than it "should" in a short period of time). Saying "don't include this because people will chase the metric" is.....well.......not the most nuanced reason.
On a site with many users, like twitter or mastodon, where follower counts can become high, I think it's important to know whether something you say is likely to reach only 10 people, 100 people, or 1,000 people or more. There are things I'd say when only a handful of people are likely to hear them that I would not say if I knew 1,000s might, which I think is probably true of many people.

@prologic so will you still be able to see who follows you? But other users/guests will not be able to see a followers list fo other user besides themselves?
@prologic I can live with that. And it's also more in line with the "privacy-first focus" of yarn.social.
