I'm The Canine from @thecanine Some people say Yarn is better than Mastodon, so now I'm here to test - I guess.
I'm and IT student drawing pixelart, have a few sites and code in C#.
Just going to test posting my profile picture as an image here and try adding a few hashtags, to see if those work.

Nova, well at least they posted "twtx > fediverse" in a XMPP chatroom we share. So I thought I'd check this thing out. I've never heard about it before, but it works pretty well in browser, so that's a positive surprise.\nI'm a bit disappointed the image only showed up as link (probably have to look into that image feature a bit more) and that me saying @thecanine@mstdn.social somehow got automatically shortened to @thecanine here. 🤔

The reason for that is because you're on my pod and you've externally linked an image which I haven't white-listed the domain for. it's a baked in security feature of the backend software behind Yarn.social yarnd

Yeah on-pod @-mentions are shortened like this by default, external feeds are not.

Me too just quietly 😂 I mean I _really_ respect the guys behind Mastodon, I _realy_ do, but man ActivityPub is just too complicated for what it's worth and the problem space it's trying to solve. What we've built here is simple, easy to use, understand and work with, so much so that you can literally just host a twtxt.txt file along with some metadata and maybe an avatar.png 😉

Hmmm 🤔\n\nI'll have to look in to this, I _know_ why this happens, but I guess we use the same @nick@domain format, so it _might_ be a bit tricky...\n\nAlso just FYI this thread (_conversation we call them_) got forked 😉
