@lyse I'm also on the e-mail wagon here. On http://darch.dk/timeline/conv/oe3howa I have added a "Comment via email" botten if uses are not logged in. This feature could be extend to other places in the various UIs. Like we already got the "Does not follow your" / "Follow you" on the profile page in yarnd, so this detection could be used to sugget the user to email that person, when mentioning them.
@darch For a web UI such a button sounds quite convenient. The only downside is that spammers also like that link. :-( So if built into e.g. yarnd, it should be probably opt-in and it might only really work well with single-user instances. At least it's not obvious to me which address that e-mail reply button would use when multiple people are involved in a conversation. The original author's? The last commentator's? Reply to all of them? Note that I didn't give this any real thought. This is only what popped up right in my head. :-)

@lyse hmm yeah, also not sure how this should work for multi-user pods. It should only trigger an email when it show that they do not follow you and, it should not be an automatic one. If spam becomes an issue you could use a forward email address for this feature.
@darch @lyse WebMentions basically lets effectively "comment" on someone else's web page (_which technically could also be a Twtxt feed_) whilst combatting any SPAM problems and NOT exposing your Email address at all. It's a lot harder to SPAM someone with Webmention(s) really because the way it works require you to essentially SPAM yourself, as it required verification of the "source" mention before the target (recipient) accepts it in the first place.
yarnd fully support WebMention(s) -- What it does not (yet) support is automatically creating "ghost users" for the source user of a webmention.

For non-yarnd users, it _could_ potentially be interesting to have a "Webmention" -> "Email" forwarding service, such that you hide your Email address behind this service, but have all of the advantages of getting notified if someone happened to mention your web page or twtxt feed or specific twt.
