Dug up my old Dell Inspiron 6400 from 2006. Good lord, that thing is heavy. Laptops really have improved a lot.

And of course the insect, that once crawled into the screen, is still there.

Let’s see if I can find some use case for this machine. 🤔

@movq @prologic Yeah, bug was also my first association. :-) I'm surprised how good it still looks after all those years. I thought there might be more decay. But insects are just very tough.
Ha! I had one of these in college (Win XP), and my father had a slightly newer model (Win Vista).

It was great to play FIFA 08, and the keyboard was amazing, although I agree it was really heavy and thick, but was affordable and powerful for that age.

Now I had a Dell Inspiron 2014 with Xubuntu, and works pretty well. I changed from HDD to SSD and it's now a pretty decent laptop to type notes and hacking a bit.

@eapl.me You’re right, it was powerful! I mean, hey, this was a *Dual Core* machine, which was still a new and crazy thing at the time. 😃

> the keyboard was amazing

Was it? It’s quite a bit “mushy” in my opinion. 😅

It’s funny how tiny the touchpad is by today’s standards.

@eapl.me @movq I have an E1505 in my box of laptops and its keyboard is pretty great, especially by modern standards. I'd say it's almost on par with that of a contemporary ThinkPad (T43).
