zgoat/goatcounter: Easy web analytics. No tracking of personal data.

Would anyone have a problem if I spun up my own instance of this and used it to understand traffic to websites like Yarn.social and use this data to over time try up more adoption? 🤔

@prologic I wouldn't! Personally, I currently use this https://adi.onl/fl.html

@adi Did you actually have a look at the project? 🤔 It _actually_ supports just analyzing an access.log; But I don't think doing this really provides enough insight of your site's traffic IHMO. My question is more along the lines of:

> If I run my own analytics for my own sites like yarn.socia would most people be okay with that?

🤔

Yup, didn't notice the access.log part.

I actually answered this question.

@adi @prologic I believe you misunderstood\n\n> I wouldn’t!\n\nI wouldn't mind! 😋\n\n> But I don’t think doing this really provides enough insight of your site’s traffic IHMO.\n\nWhat would be missing inside an access.log?

@adi Oh! lol 🤣 I really did misunderstand!

@adi @prologic IMHO, the problem is to share this info with big fata companies. There is no problem if you keep it for yourself. It's even legal under GDPR. It applies only if the data is involved in profit. No regulations to personal sites logs. 😜
I'm generally not a fan of using metrics beyond typical server logs. What information would be collected and how would you use it?
