Even for small stuff it's an easy way have distributed backups. I also wouldn't want to miss the quick and easy diffability, which comes in very handy if I accidentally hit the wrong keys in vim without immediately noticing. The particular hosting is debatable, no question, but I certainly wouldn't want to loose the version control aspect in general.
