Aaaaaaaaand now one of the pickups on my bass went silent. What a lovely day.

And now it’s back. Just like that. I guess that’s what you get when you buy a cheap instrument.

I know the temptation to buy something for less money is always enticing. I tell me wife the same thing, to which she almost always replies "we do not have enough money to buy xyz!" And that might be true, we might not have the money *right now* to buy it. My philosophy is different. I would rather wait until I pile up the money to buy the high quality stuff I want, than go for the cheap version of it.
Sometimes cheap works very well, even as well as the most expensive version and, occasionally, even better. But more often than not, it doesn't. Anyway, sorry I went on a little rant there. Good luck with that bass (the musical instrument, not the fish)!
@fastidious I intentionally bought cheap instruments, because they were experiments. I really didn’t know what to expect. I also couldn’t find a store nearby that sells them, so I just had to place a mail order and hope for the best. 😅 So, actually, I’m not in a position to complain. I knew what I was getting into. 🥴
But yeah, next time I’ll pay a lot more money.

@movq Did you restart your bass? :-P
@lyse You’re joking, but I have no idea about the electronics in that thing. It should be purely passive and purely analogue (there’s no power), but who knows, maybe it’s connected to some cloud service. Like everything else these days.
(Eventually, if it keeps acting up, I’ll open it and have a look. But not yet.)

Oh dear, that's a fair point actually. Haven't thought of a cloud connection, but wouldn't be odd at all. This thought is even creepier than that woman statue. Doctor @movq, let me hand you some dissecting instruments.
