@slashdot so, the same conversation as with green cement: the science exists. yhe technology is there, but because it is more expensive, we'll keep using the polluting option. We really need stronger, faster, tougher regulation.
@marado I'm no longer convinced that "regulation" works at all 🤦♂️

@prologic that's a dangerpus road to go down; historically when a lot of people lose faith in the government's ability to do things, authoritarians and fascists find fertile recruiting ground. It's safer to agitate for government to do better and not let up till they do.
@prologic It doesn't just because regulations don't exist, are poorly drafted, and often toothless. But the answer to that is stronger and better regulation, and I don't really see any alternative to it.

@marado @abucci I agree with you both, I'm jut saying that I have no faith in governments anymore. At least in our country, Australia, with a two-party system, they are basically just corrupt as fuck, and controlled by big oil (BHP, RIO) and big media (New Corp) 😢 Most (_besides maybe the banking regulators?_) are spineless 😢_

What I worry about sometimes if that we _may_ already be in a situation where many countries, hell even the world, are really run by large powerful corporations and not the government we put in power and pretend to have democracy 🤦♂️

@abucci @prologic I totally understand the frustration that comes with not being politically aligned with the two big parties - I feel it from experience, as my personal situation is not dissimilar. But the only thing stopping the smaller parties from growing is... support, votes. And sometimes, even a small party can make great things (proposing good bills that are actually approved by the other parties, for eg.).

@marado Yup this is true 👌 Right now where I live we have a party called the Greens, and they actually won quite a lot of seats, especially in/around my area. So fully supporting them 🙏
