@darch Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. At this point, this should probably be the default theme for all the pods.
@prologic so can we make my theme the default on ver. 1?
@thecanine I disagree.
There are too many tiny fonts, the placement of the hash too close to other elements, and in a place that doesn't make much sense. The "hamburger" items are too close to the logo. The next link is not properly aligned. The double line on the context reply adds too much noise. The options for twts (only Yarn in this screenshot), are the same colour of the default text (no distinction).
Those observations are derived from the screenshot alone, and nothing else.
Tagging @fastidious and @darch so you can see this reply too.
I don't think we disagree on too many things tbh. My main point is that the profile pictures on those kinds of themes look better in my opinion. The fonts are obviously something we'd need to make more consistent, if we wanted to move in that direction, the hash would also most likely look better on the very right and exist in the same line that the time does and yeah, the hamburger items should probably be a bit further from he logo indeed.
The thing where we might disagree is that I like the way this "next" button and double lines look and you don't, but that could probably be sorted out too.
@thecanine my point is, unless we are doing something terribly wrong, someone has to make decisions. We can't pull things on many directions because opinions (not that they don't count, everything should be taken into consideration, but not everything will be done). Because someone doesn't like how its avatar looks is not reason to change the way it looks for everyone. I, for one, prefer a thin border around the avatar.
The shot @darch posted is also ultra pale. Demarcation from background and cards is bad, specially when looking at it on mobile.
@fastidious I guess... Well the theme we have now is fine and while I'm never happy with circular profile pictures, because they limit the space an artist is able to use, I know this is a battle we're not going to win without the ability to go back in time and stopping whoever first came up with them.
The border isn't as much of an "art crime", but I fell like it still, at best adds nothing and at worse interferes with the border often drawn in transparent images, which I can also live with, but I'm by no means happy about.
The way i have designed my theme it should be easy to change the colors (incl. a darkmode) and how round the avatar is to the pod operators liking by editing the vars in https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/themes/src/branch/master/copenhagen/static/css/99-yarn.css
But there should be noting broken, just minor adjustments to be made by the community, so I see no reason why we should not at least _try_ to make it the main theme here on twtxt.net - That is why I been working on it for the last year almost.
