So my work Macbook Pro M1 just died on me. And... It won't boot into recovery mode (_because I think we've disabled that from the corporate mdm side_) 😢 Looking likely that I'll have to order a new one... I saw signs of I/O error(s) before I rebooted it, which has me suspciious that the disk has died 😱

Wow that's a bugger. Can't you just replace the disk? Not sure what's involved on those Macs though.
Side point, I swear hard disks, whether it be the mechanical drives or flash memory, seem to die much faster these days...
