I dunno about anyone else, but I'm really getting quite sick and tired of seeing these "Cookie Banner" / "Cookie Popup" thingies everywhere š¤¦āāļø It's becoming quite annoying and obnoxious š” Was this the intention of the GDPR or have we misunderstood the point entirely?! š¤

@prologic One of the cancers of the internet, along with Captchas etc IMO
@prologic have you tried those extensions to auto accept Essential cookies?
I don't, but I'm intrigued š¤
Those pop-ups are just a malicious compliance IMO
@prologic If you ask me, this kind of was the point. Inform users about what happens to their data. We now see the āfullā extent of it (or at least a larger part). Annoying and *long* popups everywhere ā because there are so many parties involved, advertising, tracking, some just serving JS or fonts, ā¦ This simply exposes the current WWW for what it is.
Most websites that need these large disclaimers are doing something wrong and shouldnāt be used.
The sad thing is: Nobody cares.
If every website with a large annoying cookie popup had lost their users, things might have turned out differently. But nope. People donāt care. They donāt want to be āinformedā. They just want the content.

Nicely said @movq All this is doing is showing how trash the web is.
Although, I think the problem also stems from web browsers not doing enough to sandbox domains. A huge benefit of web and the web browser, is that you can go to untrusted websites, and not have it compromise/track/monitor/leak info to other sites/app on your device.
Third party cookies should never have been a thing.
