@marado Now I just need to know what does the twtxt community do in lieu of RT...

@prologic ReTweet... Two common things I miss here from twitter: RTs and <3's.

@prologic "retweet" in twitter slang, "boost" in mastodon slang
Why do you need this? I have to ask... What "value" does reposting something someone else posted brings you? 🤔 If it really your content anymore if all you're doing is reposting someone else's content? 🤔 Don't you risk just creating noise? (and thereby something I feel strongly about, community, actually having conversations, etc, not having random algorithm, promoting content just because, etc...)

@prologic It's a hint: it nudges my feed's followers "hey read this twtxt in another feed". We can probably find a better way to implement these hints or nudges, but if there's nothing in place, I wonder if we won't end up with a bunch of twtxts just saying "agree" or "+1"...

@marado I _personally_ really quite opposed to this idea in general, after having worked at Facebook for a number of years, I'm acutely aware of the dangers of "reposts" and "+1"(s). They are counter to what we _actually_ do as humans when we socialize. I'm not a fan, that being said, one thing we _can_ do is implement Twitter Card / Open Graph rendering in the UI/UX such that pasting a full hash to a twt (we use content addressing) renders that Twt (from any pod really) in-place. Would that suffice here? (it's already on the backlog btw...)

In my view, it's a discoverability thing that will only really expose itself when the network grows in size. Right now, it's still feasible to read every new post from just about every feed in the world. When the network grows and it gets impossible to keep up, we'll have to learn about new feeds organically. Reposting can help with that. It's at least something to think about.
@mckinley I'm very cognizant of just re-implementing (questionable ihmo) features from the "major social media" platforms.
Global Search is likely a better tool/mechanism here? We have global search today, but it kind of sucks, needs more effort, polish and it will become difficult to scale (it already ets far too much resources for my liking on my own infra, where I run it).

I would for example be quite happy with OG/TC rendering where linking a Twt/Yarn hash such as (just picking one at random from my Timeline) #https://twtxt.net/twt/dq4wraq would render that, your post would just be #dq4wraq
-- and you could decide whether to add a bit more to it...
This is not too different to how quite a few of us now share arbitrary links to various articles or websites, etc, via the Bookmarklet feature (which you can find under Settings -> Tools)
