@jason / @movq Help me debug something I just observed here... @jason posted a Twt (https://twtxt.net/twt/4cgtisa) with raw line of (from his feed):

2022-09-03T03:40:19Z	(#ohihfkq) @<maya https://maya.land/assets/twtxt.txt> you got starlink?

Basically replying to "something" that hashed to #ohihfkq

However #ohihfkq appears nowhere that I can find. I know this _can_ sometimes happen due to edits, or deletes, so just curious to see what happened here. Also @jason, @maya as far as many of us that have been using Twtxt/Yarn over the years have come to understand that she is basically a 1-way poster, posts to Mastodon and mirrors her posts to a Twtxt feed, but never responds to anyone or anything 😅 Just FYI 🤗

I found her Twt by that Hash with our search engine

=> https://search.twtxt.net/twt/ohihfkq

Which is even more intriguing now... 🤔=

@prologic It looks like yarnd ate that twt. It's definitely on the original feed, but not on the external user page.
@prologic Hmm, it's not on twt.nfld.uk's external user page either.
Gonna keep looking for they "how" and "why"

Oh ! 🤦‍♂️ I know exactly what's happened here! It must be that time of year again where whatever part of the world @maya posts from has switched to Daylight Savings Time and sadly her script(s) still have a bug. Her post is in the future! 🤣

@prologic It's definitely a good thing that malicious actors can't just make a post in the future and effectively be "pinned" on every Yarn pod. I'm glad that was fixed.
@prologic Hm, I’n not sure. Her website says “Seattle area” and this page says Seattle switches timezones in November. 🤔

@movq Pretty sure this is the case. We confirmed that exact same thing the last few times this happened 🤣

@prologic I know, I remember those cases. Looking back at the threads kwptbpa and zmxk6pa (which both appear to be gone from your pod’s cache? 🤔), that timezone business of hers really shouldn’t happen until November. 🤔

Hmm, something *is* fishy with her feed, though.

curl says:

Last-Modified: Fri, 02 Sep 2022 21:38:02 GMT

But her latest twt says:

2022-09-02T22:31:26-00:00

So if Last-Modified is correct (it probably is, unless her server’s clock is off, which is less likely than a bug in the script), then the latest twt looks indeed like it was from “the future”.

@movq this is exactly how we work this out last time too 👌

@movq Did you time travel into the future to post those? Anyway that is weird and if the system clock is fine then the posts should more be in the future.
@prologic But why *now*? As far as I can tell, no state in the U.S. changes from DST at this time of the year. It’s a mystery! 😂

@movq Yeah in the US the clocks did not change yet. It switches in Novemeber.
@movq Yeah its a mystery why that would happen
@prologic @jason @movq I went on the mastodon feed and it seems the twtxt posts have been ahead by an hour since at least July 1st. It's possible the bug was never fixed but we didn't notice until someone with a different client tried to respond to @maya.
@mckinley That’s probably it – it’s been wrong the whole time. According to my old posts on this matter, the stamps should be wrong during the entire summer (when DST should have been applied). 🥴 So, nothing changed *recently*, we only noticed it (again) … 🤦

@movq It's alright, time zones are challenging to work with :)
@movq Time zones are challenging to work with :)
@mckinley We need to make something like computer time or something like that so people using a computer can say like lets have a chat thursday at 7:00 and no timezone things.
@jason Isn't that called UTC? 😂

@prologic Though no one ues it though
@jason True 😆

What about Internet time? 🤔

Also known as swatch time

@jason You can use it in twtxt files. From the original spec (emphasis mine):

> The twtxt file contains one status per line, each of which is equipped with an RFC 3339 date-time string (with or without UTC offset) followed by a TAB character (\\t) to separate it from the actual text. A specific ordering of the statuses is not mandatory.

Actually, feeds generated by yarnd are on UTC, using the zulu suffix

@mckinley Correct 😂 Easier that way 😆
@mckinley Correct 😂 Easier that way 😆
@prologic That is confusing and no one will understand how to use it. But I did not even know UTC means Coordinated Universal Time. We need to make a revolution to get rid of timezones on the internet and just use UTC
@jason Haha good luck with that 😂

interesting hash this yarn 😆

@prologic Yeah its never going to change but its an option to use UTC
@jason Computer time alredy exists look at UTC, in theory we would always know it's UTC unless specified otherwise
