Here is the feedback we got from the NLNet Funding Submission we put forward for Salty IM 👌
cc @xuu -- We _should_ probably think about key rotation and post-compromise aspects of the spec? 🤔

@saltyim Interesting, thanks for sharing!
@eaplmx No worries 👌 I'm obviously not giving up on this, I _believe_ in the ideas behind Salty IM -- They are quite unique and novel and inspired directly by the Indie Web. We will get there for sure 🤞

>Interesting, but unlikely to get traction in practice; only interesting for people hosting their own domain.

>Overall weighted score: 3.9 out of 7 (with 5.0 being the threshold). As is hopefully clear, we highly appreciate the mission of the project, but think it would need more thought and research to make an impact.
What I think is that the project needs traction. That _network effect_ and social validation. And that's not solved with technology, but with _social engineering.
I'd recommend inviting/hiring someone with experience growing networks 🤔_

@prologic it's easier to point out the problem than fixing it 😅
What I've seen is having a public figure promoting the service in their conferences, public events and such, a biz partner of mine promoted our games everywhere he went... So I think is a matter of finding that guy/gal
@eaplmx Interesting... Problem is my own network of talented folks like that is rather limited, I tend to shy away from popularity or large crowds, etc 😅

Interesting that they point at #autocrypt and #deltachat
Not sure how the two would work together though is that is at all possible

@darch Yes well as we've talked about in the past, #DeltaChat and #AutoCrypt are "okay" but they lack certain properties that we want. I still feel like they're a clever hack on top of "Email" 😅 -- And in any case, Slaty IM is more #IndieWeb inspired in design with bits borrowed from #Twtxt so its a. bit more fitting, if only we can get some more UI/UX going for the Mobile / Desktop App (even the TUI _could_ use a UX designer's touch)

@saltyim I just learned that GoToSocial got a grant from NLNet. Maybe instead off applying for Salty, apply for Yarn?
