@prologic It pains me to see a beautiful free software project like this collaborate using Google Meet. I can't attend the meeting, but would you like to use my Mumble server? There's no video, but there is high quality, low latency audio.
@mckinley It pains me also, I typically used my PeerCalls instance -- However it often doesn't work for _some_ folks 😢 I need to figure out why and try to either fix bugs upstream or fix my configuration 🤞

There was another Browser-browsered (no server) Wrb RTC thingy that someone shared here on Yarn.social but I seem to have not bookmarked it 😢

I remember seeing that too. You are welcome to use my Mumble server, it's been sitting idle for weeks. I've had success with it talking to people all over the world. The server is located in the eastern part of the US and it has plenty of bandwidth. I don't keep logs either.
You don't have to register to the server or anything. Just join with any nickname and it will prompt you for the server password.

@mckinley Thank you kindly! 🙇‍♂️ @mutefall and I are trying to see if we can fix my Peer Calls instance -- failing that we will definitely use your Mumble thingty (never heard of this until today!) 👌

@mckinley @prologic

mumble has always been a favourite. i've ran a system for years. very latency tolerant and works over tor to boot.
@mckinley Would Teamspeak also qualify? Self-Hosted?
@prologic do you mean https://meet.jit.si/yarn.social
@carsten Teamspeak is proprietary and you're required to pay for the software if you want more than 32 users or multiple virtual hosts. Mumble has none of those limits, and it's BSD licensed.
@prologic I also have a jitsi instance over at meet.taigrr.com 🙂
I don't like jitsi, and will never stand one up in my infra because it's written in Java™ and will likely eat resources like a sieve (although admittedly I did not test this, but I'm not going to either). Call me strongly opinionated and stubborn, but I'm going to insist that my Peer calls instance's issues be understood and resolved.

@mutefall and I were able to to use the upstream author's public instance just fine, so it must be something on my dned 😅

Fair, though I will say I did containerize it and I've restricted the memory usage. Normally I never run Java when it's possible to avoid it.
@taigrr How does it perform? Can you show some data, graphs, etc? 🤔

@prologic Mirotalk ?
@ionores That's the one thanks! 🙇‍♀️

@prologic it's based but i respect that and am based on some of my own choices. i believe @novaburst and i suggested mumble. it's in c++ so you can shift from java to bjarne memes :-)

i'm personally not exactly pleased with google consuming our private chats into transcripts as i demonstrated to you. but i respect your haus.
@mutefall Well I had another successful video call with my meet.mills.io instance last night with a Chris Waldan -- a maintainer of many nice and useful GIOUI libraries and packages. If you recall we're considering rewriting the Salty IM reference client/app Salty Chat in it.

I _really_ need to with down with both @ullarah and yourself to work out why my Peer Calls instance fails with you and see if it can be resolved.

@ullarah @prologic will have to sync on a convenient time for all.
@prologic just noticed that our green bar meeting, is gone :'(
@tkanos it's usually posted towards the end of the week.
@prologic did you sort out your network? if not we could try the author's instance since you have allergy to jitsi.
@mutefall I have not yet. I'd like to sit down with you when you have time and see if we can debug this together.

Meanwhile, someone give me a jitsi link and I'll put that up for tomorrow (my tomorrow) Saturday 12pm UTC.
