Apparently my [Matrix] homeserver is now working (no changes, just some issue with key validation and caching) 🥳 I can be reached at @james:mills.io 👌 -- Still unsure of [Matrix] in the first place, but I will give credit where credit is due. At least it was orders of magnitude simpler to stand up than any XMPP/Jabber "thingy", clients "just worked"™ for it and (after some mishaps) Federation works too. I also have to recognize that it also doesn't require my to poke dozens of random ports and holes through my firewall for it to work. 👌 #Matrix

Apparently if you try to start a new DM (Direct Message) with someone, you end up creating an "Empty Room", the system "invites" the party, but the "room" remains empty until they join? wtf is this shit?! seriously?! 🤦♂️ #Matrix

@prologic If the other person does not want to talk to you, the just don't join. That's it. What is wrong about that? It is liking this: You invite someone to talk and you are waiting in front of the door of the room. When the other persons decides to talk to you you both the room (channel) and can talk via text, phone or video

looks like you made some progress on it. maybe during our next session we can work out the kinks. i need to give dendrite a proper run soon
