I mean, what else do you do with these old machines? It’s an Athlon 64 X2 4200+ with 3 GB of RAM. I probably couldn’t even donate it.

Hmmm … I can read the disk just fine using some USB adapter on my main machine. And SMART values appear to be fine, e.g. no Reallocated_Sector_Ct
. 🤔
Maybe it’s not the disk that’s broken. I’d actually prefer that. If there was an issue with the mainboard, then this machine would be a lost cause and I wouldn’t need to bother keeping it alive.
