Open Collective - Make your community sustainable. Collect and spend money transparently.

Question to the Yarn.social and (new) Salty.im and greater Twtxt community...

> Should we consider applying for Open Collective funding?
> Would this help us in any way?

Topic for the call today?
@prologic I won’t be on the call today since I have tickets to the Great Australasian Beer Spectapular. Will be interesting to see how my teeth go LOL.

However staying on-topic. Open Collective would be a great starting point to help with any infrastructure costs. I have no experience with these services but as long as all the funds are transparent I think it should be worthwhile looking into it.
@prologic OpenCollective is pretty solid if you want to accept donations, it takes away a lot of the legal questions at a modest cut. Sandstorm has one, we will be using it more soon.
And since the cut is just a portion of donated funds, there's really no cost to having it set up. It costs nothing if you aren't bringing anything in via it.
@ocdtrekkie Sounds like a good idea then. How do we attract funds though? We're still quite small and niche, but it would be nice to grow -- but that means growing pods (as is the design)

Correction, growing the number of pods.
Correction, growing the number of pods.
Hmmm, what would you do with funds you raise?
@ocdtrekkie Pay for folks like Maeraj that's working on the Salty Chat App and _hopefully eventually_ a new native App for Yarn.social too πŸ‘Œ -- Pay for Yarn.social to host geographical free multi-user pods around the globe to help grow the network.

@prologic I was gonna join the call... but I'm tired. That's probably a good list though, question is how many are willing to pay how much towards those goals. More users would definitely help.
@ocdtrekkie No problems! πŸ‘Œ
