@wbknl I prefer vellum to write my stuff. It lasts longer. πŸ˜‚
@prologic what I, poorly, tried to say is that you could run those "key services" if you want. Again, I know you have a certain fixation on what's decentralised, or not... LOL, so start fixing it by changing that Wikipedia entry! I believe in you! πŸ™ˆ
@prologic I recommend its Wikipedia entry is edited then, if you are completely certain.

> "Bluesky is a decentralized microblogging social media service primarily operated by Bluesky Social, PBC."

That I know of, you can run the PDS, and pretty much everything else.
@aelaraji LOL!
@movq wow, indeed it is supper bright, and kind of broken, when not logged in.
@movq it is still dark for me, but I am logged in. Hmm, let me check...
@lyse yeah, Yarn doesn't work well without it, just tried it.
@prologic see my profile.
Well, crap, and now it is. This is so odd. Things do not work sometimes, then sometimes they do! 🀯
@prologic, the new line character. \\u2028, is no longer being rendered right on the description metadata.
@prologic, the new line character. \u2028, is no longer being rendered right on the description metadata.
@prologic trying out as in? I have a BlueSky account, using my own domain, but I do not longer host a PDS.
@prologic oi! :-D I think it is fine as is right now. My vision isn't as good as it used to be, and my display is not the "standard" size. Phanpy uses a pretty neat slider on its settings that allow you to set the default size. I will query its developer to see what he has to say.
@prologic quite good, under Linux. I had to zoom in a notch, as the default is a tad small on my 27" display. But I do that for many websites.
It's the font stack that Phanpy uses. It works quite well under Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows.
@prologic, I think font-family: ui-rounded,-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,Segoe UI,Roboto,Ubuntu,Cantarell,Noto Sans,sans-serif; is a better font stack than current for Yarn web.
I have grown used to, and to love, the Ubuntu font. It is highly legible.
@prologic glad to hear (about being alive). Get well soon!
@movq that's pretty weird, but easily covered under a performer's "job description". :-D
@xuu I think he is on vacations (I sure hope he is, having fun and all!), or something. I haven't seeing anything from him for over a day now. Very unusual.
@movq I envy you! In Europe, using an e-bike is completely doable. In the States, in many cities, not a chance. :-(
@prologic, are you running Ollama on your Mac Studio? How much RAM does it have? How does it performs with 7b, and 13b models?
@movq that would have never worked for me. I don’t have that kind of money in a bank account. πŸ˜‚

We should standardise numerical notations, at least the nations using the Arabic numerals. Spain also uses the period as the thousands separator. For legibility sake, commas and periods make sense, like €3,500.25, for example. That’s three thousand five hundred Euros, and 25 Euro cents. But this should also work: €3500.25.

It makes little sense that €334.90 gets interpreted as €33490 (or €33,490). 🀯
@prologic using Yarn he isn’t supposed to follow it, it should show as context, no?
@prologic sorry, tried looking for the points you mentioned, but couldn’t find them. Got a link?
@prologic lies, and scams aside, there is plenty of need in the world. Yet, you can’t help everyone. Best way to do it is to donate to a worthy cause, and ignore one offs.
@prologic β€œhere, have 2 rupees.”
😜😜😜 well, now I can. This is beyond weird.
@xuu that’s on iOS? I can’t (running 18.1).
First one on the third row, for example. There are more, though.

Emoji not showing
@prologic how could I show you what I can’t type? πŸ˜‚ Let’s see, a second.
I have noticed that Yarn (here) will not take some emoji. At least, will not take some under iOS.
@lyse precisely. The fog itself doesn’t smell. It simply carries the smell of its surroundings. Find what those surroundings are, and the credit will go to the right thing. 😊
@lyse I think it would make the interface look too busy, I would pass on that one.
@nff it is actually quite bad, so what you are smelling ain’t fog.
@lyse you sure are a crafty young man!
@wbknl ahh! I didn't know that tidbit of information. It all makes sense now.
@wbknl you and I. There is a backyard waiting for me to mow (most likely will tackle it tomorrow), and a front yard that yearns the touch of the mower as well (that one will have to wait a bit longer).
@wbknl you don't have a permanent address? Why will you need a forwarding service?
@lyse I would say it is extremely broken.
@wbknl CW was all I did during my military "tour". I learned Morse code when I was 5 years old, and used it during my youth, and early adulthood. Went to competences, and won, and all! :-)

My father was a professional radio-telegraphist for many years, until his retirement at 67 years old.
@prologic that's already done (IP over RF). But they are other protocols (radio packet, SDR, etc.) that they use. More efficient, and specially geared towards ham radio.
@wbknl none, unless you are. 😊
@prologic OP meant the same way they use email, or the web.

Knowing how many other things hams can get into, I doubt there is even one using twtxt. You would know, right @prologic ?
@prologic it depends on the impact it has on you, and/or your loved ones. So, debatable. I think I understand the context on which you used it (based on the @movq two posts); I was just not in a good mood for it. I am alright now. Much work to be done from now on, we'll try harder.

@wbknl that Messenger bag is a big one, isn't it?
@eapl.me well, well, look who the cat dragged in! 😊 Will read, and discuss!
@xuu on top of it, having to stomach joyful messages in some group chats that are hard, or almost impossible, to break away from.
@prologic interesting emoji choice here, mate. 😞
Alright. I am---actually, "we" are---out for the next couple of days. Do me a favour and stick some needles on that orange voodoo doll you got---make one, if you don't!
Unless, of course, we all switch to Rust. Then there will be a new version each month. πŸ˜…
@sorenpeter after so much debate and deliberation we have gotten to the point on which I can safely say there will not be a version 2. It is version 1, forever! 😈
@prologic working like a charm!
@prologic hmmm. I see br now.
@prologic lay the job off. We don’t want a lazy job on the job! πŸ˜…
It ain’t showing.
@prologic mine and @quark.
@prologic mine and @quark’s.
@prologic Putin is a humongous putΓn.
@prologic πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
@prologic you da man!
Sore's "Timeline" suffers the same problem: https://darch.dk/timeline/profile?url=https://ferengi.one/twtxt.txt
@movq so lucky! πŸ˜… We bought $20 worth of candies that I will be forced to slowly consume now. Can't waste them, right? πŸ˜‚
@prologic really?! Wow, you can tell I had no idea.
@doesnm something is affecting your DNS, or something else is happening. They both work fine for me.
That being said, someone else manages https://indieweb.org/twtxt. Little to do with anyone around here, I think.
Both links work for me.
@movq about the Halloween revellers, we only had two kids knocking at our door. That's two more than the last 3-4 years, on which we had none.
The change @doesnm refers to is: https://twtxt.net/twt/tho4wpq
@prologic? or not @prologic, that's the question!
@prologic but I have placed question marks, commas, and periods after @prologic, and it has worked fine (this one, for example).
@prologic yes.
@prologic, see broken mention above. Yarn is extremely inconsistent when mentioning.
@doesnm right, jenny isn't the problem, it's your platform of choice. The fetching of archives doesn't happen all time (once only, right @movq?), but yes, depending on the amount of feeds you follow that first time might take a while.
@prologic yeah, streamline. Make Yarn Great Again! 🀭
@prologic all this years preparing to be the AI you have become, and the justification you pick is 'being "human"'? πŸ˜‚
@prologic all these years preparing to be the AI you have become, and the justification you pick is 'being "human"'? πŸ˜‚
@aelaraji righto, thanks!
@prologic where did he pointed it out? I don’t see a twtxt from him on this yarn.
@Codebuzz you replied to me, but the reply was just an , nothing else (the whole handle was missing).

There are no web mentions here, and no notifications. It isn’t Mastodon; if you want to see if someone wrote something new, or replied to you, you need to open your client.
@movq on this:

> I use Mastodon similarly. I write posts in Vim until I’m happy with them. Then copy-and-paste to the browser …

You could use toot, and bypass the browser altogether.
@movq did you edit this twtxt? I shows fine on jenny, but in here (twtxt.net) seems to be missing a line in between the quoted text, and your reply (part of your reply is mashed with the quoted text).
@prologic, I don't know if you will notice that the first line on the block below has a slight indentation:

First line.
Second line.
Third line.

I believe this, on CSS, is causing it:

pre>code {
    padding:0 .25rem;
}
@movq was going to say, "let them be, mate, let them be". :-)
@lyse and for those who were as lost as me, you are referring to this @movq's comment: https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/twtxt.dev/pulls/4#issuecomment-18024 :-D
@falsifian ah, Americans, and their backwards dates! LOL. Even using the "American" style, I will never leave out the year (it is way too bogus for me), thus 1/4/2024, or 1/4/24, which "should" format just fine.

I prefer 2024-01-04. :-)
@falsifian and...

> My 1/4 -> 1/4 thing is nothing more than a minor irritation which probably isn’t worth overthinking.

Yet, here we are still debating it. LOL.
@falsifian what happens if those four things you carefully planned to point out become six? Will you retroactively go and edit all previous twtxts to account for that change, thus breaking any potential replies/forks to them?
@Codebuzz we use clients to do that, but some users may want to, or do, manually edit the twtxt.txt file.
@prologic that means changes will need to be made to Yarn too then, right? Right now Yarn uses markdown rendering for everything, but if someone's feed states text/plain, then it will have to disabled markdown rendering for it, correct? If that's the case, are you sure you want that? πŸ˜…
@falsifian about this:

> but FWIW I’m not especially keen on changing how I format my twts to work around yarnd’s quirks.

Yet, you are asking Yarn to change the format to work around how you want it display. πŸ€”
@thecanine ahh, Google, what can I say?! It is amazing for me to think I used to have everything on Google, and now I have nothing. I mean, I have kept my Gmail, and Google Voice. The first I don't use, but I have it since beta (was of the few first to be invited to it), so it has a "sentimental" value. The second is my catch-all-spam number.
OMG! https://www.apple.com/mac-mini/
@movq sounds counterproductive. The power of open source is that it benefits from everyone's participation. Why to develop in a close source setting then? Hmm.
@movq I agree. Even if I will not use it, allowing to do similarly to the commercial "service" in a selfhosted, non-algos, non-ad-targeting environment, is the way to go.
@sorenpeter I can IRC on mobile, but I choose not too. It is not as easy as when using a desktop computer.
@sorenpeter I use TheLounge. Similar to the one @prologic uses, but self hosted. Always connected.
Well for iPhones 15 Pro and 16 Pro Max, and all on the 16 line.
iOS 18.1 is out. It brings the beginning of Apple Intelligence.
