12 years ago, I (re)installed Linux on my machine:
$ head -n 1 /var/log/pacman.log
[2011-07-07 11:19] installed filesystem (2011.04-1)
I believe that was the day when I switched from i686 to amd64. It was on an Athlon 64 X2 4200+. I bought it in 2006 and I could have run amd64 right from the start but didn’t, for some reason. I was pretty late to the party.
Since then, just rolling updates. It’s not the same machine anymore, the system has been moved to/through various hard disks and SSDs over time. Quite a long time and this stability still surprises me.
(I wonder why I never followed that approach during my days with Windows. It should have worked, I think? But for some reason, completely wiping the disk on every Windows update or major hardware upgrade was “the way to go” back then … Or *did* I try and everything broke horribly? 🤔 I honestly don’t remember anymore.)

It tadpoled a wee bit in the pond, but we could not see a single frog. Went up the backyard mountain and saw new logs for the metal maps. My fingers really swelled up at 29°C heat and I could cool them down slightly at a small and now only trickling fountain. It was too awfully hot to take any photos. Luckily I brought uns some water, next time I will upgrade to a full liter each. Now enjoying some ice cream.
I've made smart and added a backup copy of my twtxt file to Storj cos my internet keeps on dying

@prologic bummer, that's a shame. I ask because I install the vast majority of my phone apps from f-droid these days, and only use Google Play Store when I have no other option. I know the Play Store will have more reach, but I'm guessing reach isn't the highest priority right now.
@prologic Thanks for confirming, but it just sounds like an ugly hack. Even after sleeping on this. I feel there must be something elegant. Error handling in Go is still not mature.
@stigatle @prologic That sounds great. After a few days of nice temperatures we're back heating up the giant oven over here. 35°C on Sunday, fuck me. Going on a short hike with my mate later and doing a few shop projects in the workshop.
@stigatle Scenery out of a picture book. Lovely!

@abucci Yeah I'm increasingly not sure we can really trust anyone but ourselves with our own thoughts and conversations (not that I did before) 🤦♂️

@prologic hmm, I'd be up for thinking about that. At least at the protocol and design level--I'm afraid I can't help much with Go programming.
@prologic I don't know! I've never used it--only came across it recently.

So given's Google™'s recent policy changes where they now outright and blatantly just admit they'll crawl, index and feed your (_yes your fuckind_) writings, thoughts, conversations, etc into their AI models; Should we as a small niche community (_still growing_) think about perhaps finally building Yarn.social v2 where we have encrypted feeds? 😅
